Fact of the matter.... Panarin looked like shit under Turk. Was it just an 'off' season?

IMO Panarin NEEDS... ABSOLUTELY NEEDS... 2 north/south players on his line. This isn't 2019 anymore. You haven't replicated any of your success since covid started. Trocheck is one. I believe Laffy could be the other, where he has shown tremendous growth in his game and he can adapt to any style.

Panarin is a very smart creative player. Learn to adapt to what teams are giving you. Things should open up with 2 pitbulls on his line.

DO NOT GIVE HIM KRAVTSOV

DO NOT GET HIM KANE

stop enabling him lol
Panarin had 59 even strength points, easily leading the team, and he looked like shit.

Kreider had 39 even strength points and everyone thought he had a great year.

The illogic is overwhelming.

Not really worried about Panarin. He had to be injured in the playoffs. It's the only explanation. He's elite. Don't really see a drop off anytime soon. He had a career high in points in 2021-22. There's not a lot of mileage on his body. He's like Marty St. Louis in that he broke into the NHL late (24) and his style of play isn't lazy but it's not really abusive to his body. I think he can play a long time still before we see any real drop off.

Side note about St. Louis, he didn't even become the player he was until he turned 27, his first 70 point season, first time he scored more than 40 points. He literally became a HOF player 27 and up. Most HOF players are already far on their way towards that well before turning 27. From age 27 to age 38 he hadn't scored less than 61 points.

Panarin is well on his way towards a HOF career. If he stays healthy.

Panarin is a humble guy. Highly doubt he's happy with his season.

Strome was a big chunk of the problem.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't get back to godmode next season

Is there public information about his lack of training?
He did not have a normal off season last year. I can confirm that.

The challenge with this is panarin thought strome was a big chunk of the solution, so hopefully he doesnt get uptight about playing with meat and potatoes vinny

Who are those two north south players? Vinny and who? Gauthier? Kakko isn't a n s player. Laf is pencilled in for the top line and he gets all e w when he's with panarin, so are you putting hunt on his wing? One of kakko or kravtsov is going to be on his wing and smart money is that with the current lineup the team starts with Kreider zib laf on a line and panarin Vinny kakko on the other unless someone is hurt or shits the bed in camp

I don't think Trocheck is nearly as fast as Ranger fans are claiming. Watching anything of him on YouTube he doesn't look fast at all. When you search Trocheck with the word fast online you just see some Rangers fans and Ranger blog calling him fast the past few days, nobody talked about him being fast before this.

He's an upgrade in speed, not calling him a burner but he's deceiving in his speed, has more of a Kravtsov style of skating than say a Motte. Also an upgrade in shooting and net front.

Didn't Panarin get married last summer, same for Zib?

Going for Gallant's old boy Trocheck over Strome was clearly a shot across the bow. Still, if Gallant had a problem with it why wait until the off season to fix it?

it was beyond the marriage. i have shared the outline as to the what and the why from the information i got from an absolutely legitimate source. wont post details of the source here but it is legit and my sources have already been vetted on the site.

I know. I meant the marriage on top of the other issue(s). A lot going on for him last summer.

Tro and Laffy. It's the best option, especially for the playoffs.

I would not put laf anywhere near panarin 5v5. Everytime he played with bread he instantly moved away from the growth he made in his own game and started doing stupid shit like saucing backhand passes through the nz and creating turnovers. If laf is playing rw he is playing with zib and kreids

Truth. And in the face of all of that I was told panarin and his wife were incredibly grateful to the nyr org and Drury for how they handled things and supported him/them. It came across like they got more from this org than they have from any other or expected from previous experiences elsewhere. The rangers have really done well by bread when you consider this and the other issues when he had to go to Russia.

every time? like 5 minutes? it was nothing anywhere substantial.

2 pitbulls and a poodle.

Gallant says no thanks, he'll stick to Dryden Hunt top-6 with Panarin

Move Pararin to the top line
2nd line kids minus Chtyil
3rd line Chtyil, goody, kravy
4th line free for all with the rookies playing every other game

Laf needs to play with Kreider and Zib and Kakko with Panarin. That’s where the two played their best regular season hockey this year and that’s where they should start going forward.
It seems really straightforward. Chytil centering Kravstov and either Blais or Goodrow should still have enough skill for them to get enough even strength time to develop.

i expect a big bounce back year from panarin. he seems pretty self aware and im sure he knows his playoffs, and even the season despite the production, werent good enough. he was just way too perimeter pass first, really never looked to get to the middle of the ice all year and the playoffs really exposed that. the comments referencing his having an unusual summer make a ton of sense. i dont think hes the type to have his feelings hurt by criticism from drury either.

he needs the big bounce back too, because a repeat of last year will likely really bring some tension. drury didnt sign him, and he doesnt really fit the profile of what he prioritizes so he needs convincing. combine that with how prohibitive his cap it is and how tight we are and i can see there being issues if another playoff dud.

This is what I don’t understand. The team seemed to have the issue diagnosed and prioritized for the off-season, so why not play with the lineup while you’re still alive in the playoffs? Does not compute for me.

Honestly think Gallant stuck with Strome because of the respect he had in the locker room and I guess to an extent the relationship with Panarin. I don’t know that switching it up would’ve made a difference because that line was so slow together. Panarin would pull up and Strome/Copp wouldn’t even be in the screen yet. Rangers needed a guy who could get up ice and play quicker in Trocheck.

The real key is that Panarin needs to start shooting more. He’s got a deadly shot, and when he is decisive with it he’s at his best. Need that Panarin back because if not it’s going to be tough to win a Cup.
