Would it surprise anyone watching panarin’s game everynight now if he played well into his 30s ala a Pavel datsyuk.

Panarin’s a smart smart player who stays in phenomenal shape, has a whole lot less wear and tear on his body than 90% of NHLers his age.

Panarin broke the mold with a UFA. He’s a superstar. Why are we sure we aren’t gonna get 7+ years of top notch play.

I think panarins best aspect of his game is through the neutral zone. Guys respect his outside speed so they open their gaps a bit, and the second they close it off he spins off and opens up the passing lane for the late guy.

It's predictable and entirely predicated on him reading what the defense is giving him. For every move it seems like has got the counter move ready.

His iq is really really high

He needs a better right winger with him and strome. I get why fasth is there...but he's not a player that is a good fit for them.

They need someone a lot better than him.

I'd even be willing to try howden there, or like... Anyone else. Fasth just has so little offensive skill.

They have 10 goals in 150 mins as a line the line is fine as is. There is no point trying to make it better. This is what the penguins almost always did with crosby and to an extent Malkin. Wherever he plays with top players or like total Randoms the line is always great. The same is true if Panarin. It makes much more sense to insulate the weaker lines with stronger players than to give Panarin help he does not need.

I think calling him Fasth at this point is obnoxious.

IMO he's easily top3-5 player in the league... I'd argue he's even the best overall player in the league

All top producers have other elite talent. Marchand-Pastrnak. McDavid-Drasaitl. MacKinnon-Ratannen.

I like Strome but what would Panarin be doing with another Panarin-type on his line? He also only has 14 PP pts and now leads the league in Even-Strength Pts. ( For comparison, McDavid has 29 PP pts, McKinnon 21 pts )

You mean all three of them? Well, I guess... but then you have alot of cap hit bound in three players.

As for Panarin, I can't remember this kind of dominance in a NYR jersey since maybe Jagr, but I don't think even he could dominate like Panarin can. Jagr had great chemistry with Straka and Nylander, who were quite good players by themselves.

As in I'd take each one of those 3 over Panarin.

Then there's Crosby and Pastrnak. I don't think Panarin is top-5.

Yeah and strome who was basically a bust adjacent player till he came here, is fine with panarin. I just HATE fasth with them. It just doesn't seem to work to me. He's so .. blech.

Unfortunately I don't see anyone obvious to stick there other than lemieux who is hurt.
