To be honest, Trouba is the guy best suited as Captain material. Panarin, Zib, Byfield!!! as the "A"s.
Yeah I could see him being captain. He’s in his first season here and already wears an A when one of the other assistants are out

Panarin doesn’t strike me as the captain type. And it seems like they’re hestiant to give Zibanejad the captain title because of his contract status

Trouba makes sense honestly, he’s going to be here a long time

I was pretty bummed when we (Avs) didn't get him, but was okay with him going to the Islanders. And at first I was bummed he went to the Rangers but he's so damn loveable it doesn't matter where he goes. By far one of my favourite players in the league and a great story in general.

If you have a subscription to The Athletic I highly recommend the one about his upbringing.

An Incredible Journey: Artemi Panarin's path from poverty to...

So far the signing has been terrific. Only had one bad game so far. He has been killing it. However I do wonder if things will slow down in the second half because right now literally everything is going in for him even accidentally lol

A dominant player carrying a very mediocre team to a worse draft pick. Assessment hasn’t changed since before he was signed. We just need to hope he’s still this good in 2-3 years.

Do you really think he's going to have a drastic drop off in play in just 3 years? Baring a severe injury I'll bet he'll will be playing at this same level for the next 5 years at least. If he could get some guys who could finish on his line he'd probably had 70 points right now.

Chytil, DeAngelo, Strome and Lindgren are all better this season.
Add Trouba to the mix and here you go. Hell even Mika took a small step forward this season.

Don’t really care about the draft pick, you don’t just go win now mode after drafting in the top 5 for few years.
Rather have a good pool of talented players and learning how to win.

If a player like Panarin is willing to leave money on the table just to play on your team you go ahead and sign him ASAP.

You're saying he could have 22 more points right now?!

OK I exaggerated a bit. he could have 19 more points. I've watched nearly every game this year and there's been way too many times he's set someone up perfectly only to have them fan or not even get a SOG. Do you Watch many Ranger games?

I don't know if he will, I hope he doesn't. It's great having a truly elite player for once, I just hope that he keeps playing at this level until the supporting cast is ready enough to form a true contender.

Bread and Zib have really transformed this team’s look up front. We need the kids to arrive (at their potential) and some depth, but up front these are the two most dynamic offensive talents I can remember watching in such a long time on this team. Gaborik had a couple of really great seasons but he just wasn’t as dynamic or impactful as these guys. They’re a joy to watch.

Jagr's first full season with us, was the last time I remember a Ranger forward playing at this level. Before that it was Bure for a brief spell. Lots of big names have come here, only a couple did what Panarin is doing now.
