Well, it is something we've never seen on an NHL rink before. I would say there is a very good reason for that....

Paraphrasing:

"We want something which make them look like heroes."

How about adding laser beams?

Actually, with today's technology, it would be quite easy to add fabric/LEDs/etc to sweater piping which would illuminate when the goal light was flipped on, or when a goalie made a ridiculous save...
