The Ducks will also be having a moment of silence for Cpl. Cirillo and those in Ottawa before tonight's game against Buffalo. Via Lebrun.

A small solace that there's a couple of games on tonight.....following this story in Ottawa all day is so mentally draining. Need to get away from it for a while. So thankful I don't have to work tonight.

Oiler fans are so annoying with there "I wish we played in the east" garbage.

No oilers fans, you are in the west and you are going to stay in the west. You either build your team to compete in the west or you stay a bottom dweller for years.

I hope they never make the playoffs ever again.

They'd have zero chance of making the playoffs in the East, as well. They're just a bad hockey team.

Is it annoying because it is true?

One of the reasons they are bottom-dwellers is because the West is so tough right now. If they were in the East they would have had a better record for sure, not saying they would be contenders but they would have an easier time.

They were outshot 34 to 20 by Washington.

Wasn't there a goal waved off in the Tampa game for Tampa? Hall got a penalty shot, they got a flukey goal and I forget their third goal. Tampa's best defenceman was injured.

The past 2 games - literally everything had to go right for them to win. These were hardly 2 games where they showed they could compete.

Behind you, look out
East has 16 teams. You play every team at least twice a year. One at home and one away. That means that 32 of their 82 games are against the east. Of the 13 other teams they face 4 are Winnipeg, colorado, Arizona and Calgary. They do not have it as hard as they are making it out to be. Plus there is an advantage to hosting east coast teams. Start the game later. Players biological clocks cannot adjust quick enough for a 4 game road trip. Their bodies are telling them to sleep by the third period. Deadspin should how much it affected NFL teams.

Wonder how 2nd and 3rd best Western teams Sharks and Avalanche are feeling after losing two and four games vs Eastern teams in a row.

that thread became a Ribeiro thread for a while for some reason. i think theirs fans compared Spezza and Ribeiro's style. i have not much to add since i didn't see Ribeiro play much after he left the Habs and became better

Reading the thread on the Dallas board about Spezza almost brings tears to my eyes. :')

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=1732799&page=6

It's really too bad that back surgery severely impacted his last season as a Sen, because while his game had it's warts, the criticism was way over the top. Would have loved to have a healthy Spezza stay with the team, but I can totally understand the team wanting to move on given the inhearent risks involved in keeping a guy with his injury history.

Ideally, we would have moved him a year earlier (like Anaheim did with Ryan) and maximized the return, but I think the appetite wasn't quite there yet in the offseason, and that was followed with the season ending injury, and Alfie's departure.

Lots of external factors sabotaged us getting the ideal return, though I'm very happy with Chiasson and Paul so far, we likely get a better return had he been traded earlier, or after a healthy season, or both.

Glad to see him fitting in over in Dallas, I've heard he is really liking it over there (particularly the lack of hacks like Brennan in the local media).

Yeah they were just basically saying everyone in Dallas liked Ribeiro there so it's not surprising that they like Spezza now. Though Spezza is a much better player. It just seems like the appreciate their star players for what they bring rather than focus on what they don't bring (for the most part).

There's a difference between hockey fans and fanatic Canadian hockey fans...

Pacioretty had an epic dive tonight.

Look at Glendening face when he realized that Pacioretty dove to get a call... Man, no wonder the Sens use Habs player as punching bags, they must be really hated in the league.

I'm not even mad anymore, I just find that team pathetic. They are already the luckiest team and they need to cheat too. Karma should be a Price injury at the right time again, maybe earlier this time.
