After Klingberg's first NHL goal, Jason Spezza does something odd with his hands. I can't tell if he's putting gum down Klingberg's shirt or if he just licked his fingers and touched his neck. Did he ever do something like this when he played in Ottawa?

It kind of looks like he coughed up a loogie, and wiped it on Kilngberg's collar?

How does Sens Nation view Spezza's season so far? He has 3 goals and is a -10, much to the delight of Nashville since he snubbed us. He gets loudly booed every time that he touches the puck.

We now know that we are probably better off without him. What are the current sentiments over here?

I wish him well, but if he flops I won't mind either. Mostly glad he's in the other conference so I don't have to think about it. I liked him but I also think the team is actually better off without him. For the record I begrudge Alfredsson everything and got pleasure from seeing him get lost on Detroit.

Leafs apparently didn't salute their fans after their win last night. Disrespectful? or appropriate response to fan outrage? Thoughts?

IMO, A short salute to the fans would have been better than nothing.

Maybe just cutting out the fluff and focusing on their game. If I was a Leafs fan, I wouldn't care one bit.

Not surprising. Toxic room full of primadonnas.

Agreed.

You do that sort of stuff once and a while, when it actually means something - at the end of the season/ end of a playoff series, important games, etc...

Doing it every night, 41 nights a year at home, it loses whatever was cool about it in the first place.

I could never be a fan of an organization so full of egos.
The contrast between Ottawa and TO is one of the big reasons I am proud to be a senators fan.
Respect to our team.

Till he is 35? Surprised Spezza didn't insist on a couple more years.

Thats an awesome contract for dallas.. not much more than we are paying Ryan.

I know he didnt want to stay here, but of he did, i would have signed him to that.. it was when peopel were talking about 6-7 year extension where i was worried.

That is quite a cap hit for Spezza, I am sure he is happy to get that deal, and I am also glad Sens did not have to do that. The trade made sense for us then, still happy with it now. Team is doing fine without him. But I would not pay 7.5/year for Spezza in his 30s.

That's a lot of money for a perpetually minus second line center.

He's like a centerman version of Karlsson, do not want

Congrats to Spezza, that's a fair deal for both sides.

I still think Dallas desperately needs to spend some cash on defense. You're not going to win a Cup with 6-5 games...

That's more than I thought he'd get; certainly more than we were going to pay.

Trade was well timed then.

Dallas Board seems fine with it.

Dallas seems desperate to keep Spezza. They have been playing subpar so far this year. Spezza cashed in. Go for him. I am happy ottawa and Spezza went their separate ways. He is not the type of player (especially at his age) you build a winning team around. Ottawa is one of the youngest teams in the league. It will pay off for ottawa in the long run.
