Calgary is a decent team. I was a bit surprised everybody had them being a bottom-feeder to start the year. Their 2004 cup run was awesome and it was an amazing year: they hold a special place in my heart

They have a lot of question marks on their team who are outperforming right now. Looks like they took a page from the Pesky Sens book. I hope they continue to do well, but I would love to see them get a high draft pick rather than a team like the Panthers, Sabers or Hurricanes.

Not sure where to drop this question/comment so will start here. Heard about the Del Zotto story and went looking for a few threads on main boards which were shut down immediately. One claimed it was not hockey related....uh MDZ is a professional hockey player in the NHL so that's a bit of a relation. Another said this was a "family" site, which is ok i guess.

Why is this story too sensitive to discuss? There have been far worse topics discussed at length on these boards for years (not to mention videos of bare knuckle boxing with extremely bloody endings, gruesome injuries, stories of racism and sexism etc...). I guess i don't really care to be honest about this story specifically but I do find it weird certain mods act within their own set of morals and views. Again i understand if users are going all crazy but to just shut something down because you personally do not agree with it before really anything questionable is said seems like an abuse of power to me and against the spirit of the site. Is there a code somewhere saying stories related to say "sex" or other things in any way are not to be posted on here?

Just another reason why twitter and social media can be a very, very bad thing for celebrities and pro athletes.

We lost 4-2 to Boston, I felt bad. Then, I watched the Montreal game last night, now I feel decent. :sarcasm:

with 15 minutes to go in the 3rd period between the Blues and Rangers, there were 3 empty net misses during a single scramble

Haven't had an opportunity to look into it since I'm enjoying vacation, but I believe that it is merely hearsay at the moment and so discussion falls under libel rules.

And while he may be a hockey player, this is not a celebrity gossip site.

Ugh...for the record, the Senators were never, EVER going to draft Tarashenko. Murray had one target in that draft at pick 16 and it was Jaden Schwartz. Once, ironically, St. Louis drafted him two picks earlier, Murray decided that he wasn't going to use the pick on anyone and swapped it for SEL superstar David Rundblad.

What's fascinating about Rundblad is how many scouting teams were high on this kid (StL, OTT and PHX) and yet he was an immense bust.

It's hard to believe he busted. He had all the physical tools. Seems his limitation came from the hardest variable to scout and project - mental makeup and fortitude.

Oh well, can't believe we parlayed that guy into Turris.

you can't expect too much from the 16th pick. he ended up being a good pick because he began putting up huge points in Sweden even if didn't end up translating that to the NHL. both the Blues and the Sens made out very well at the end

The thing is you could make a "could have had" argument for about 99% of draft picks outside of the top-3...

Even with the Lazar pick who everyone will be glad was picked at 17th... At some point, we could make a "could have had" argument. Heck, it has already begun with Anthony Mantha and a case could already be made for Andre Burakovsky

So yeah, I see the "what ifs" as a bit of an useless discussion. People can still talk about it, no problem, but yeah some facts and logic you gotta keep in mind. I'd like to see a list of draft picks that it's "impossible to have drafted better... There's probably 1 per draft lol

With this team I don't think it's viable to ever play what if situations with Russian prospects because for whatever reason they never work out with us and we seem to avoid them like the plague in return.
I recall at the draft the conversation here about Tarasenko was whether he'd be a flight risk.
