he must be asked since he has a NMC. if he says no to waivers, the rangers can then skip that part and buy him out. if he says yes to waivers, then the rangers need to decide if they want to risk it since if someone claims him and then he retires, we'd still get hit with the cap recapture penalty.

so need to be nice to him so he does us a favor and says no.
 
Where do you guys think Gaborik is going to go coming off that playoff scoring performance? Do the Kings have room to re-sign him?

If the kings buy out mike richards (most likely since he is being paid just under 6m to play on the 4rth line) Gabby will stay in LA. Gabby said he is happy their and he will probably get a decent length contract for close to what he is making now. With his injury history no team is going to pay him more then he was making unless they have no shot at a cup and have the cap space. He could probably pull a 6.9 in LA and have another shot at the cup next year.

Thornton hates NY. Or at least he used to. Perhaps he got over his little girl grudge since it's been a few years since the "soft" incident.

You should also edit the first part of the post. I don't see anything about tampa signing Cally.

Koivu will likely go to Europe. He sucks now. You want to compete with LA and Boston types, and Koivu isn't the answer.

Callahan will be given a very good offer from Tampa because Cooper loves Callahan. He was on NHL radio last week and said he was his best all-around forward down the stretch and made the MSL trade worth it.

Callahan is a greedy moron if he chooses more money over Tampa. Tampa will be one of the dominant teams in the East for a decade and it's friggin Florida.

He can vacation in Upstate NY if he misses it. The Sabres will suck for a few years and Callahan won't fix anything there.

i could see tampa giving him $6M with a no trade clause... Slats didn't want to do that with Cally, and it made much sense given the type of system we are moving to... At this point, Callahan would be on our hypothetical 3rd or 4th line.... perhaps 2nd at best, but Zucc and Nash are much better RWers than him, and $6M on the 4th line is just too much
 
Hall of Fame inductees will be announced on Monday. Hasek and Forsberg should be automatic. Modano probably in as well. Recchi is also eligible.

Do people really think Jumbo hates NY because of that one comment? Players say dumb things all the time after heated games.

Also, he didn't say anything about NY specifically, just the "team."
