Cooke- repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat offender, this why the NHL gets no respect, throw the book at this clown

Surely he has to face a ban right?

I mean Torres was banned for a whole series for being a repeat offender so consistency should apply here as Cooke is a repeat offender.

The issue is the NHL is the epitome of inconsistent.

Interesting fact, the last 4 teams remaining in the playoffs have won the last 4 Stanley Cups.

Side-by-side comparison of Cooke and Marchand's hit:

remember this

I don't consider either of those dirty. I think of dirty as knee on knee, head shots, malicious slashes, boarding, etc.

In the first one, Avery was just trying to piss Thomas off (surprise). In the second, he took exception to Roloson's slash.

UN-****ING-REAL!!!

No supplemental discipline for Matt Cooke, according to the TSN ticker and http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=424558:

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke will not face supplemental discipline for his hit on Adam McQuaid of the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final series on Saturday.

Cooke was assessed a major penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct after hitting McQuaid into the end boards in the Bruins' zone early in the second period. After the whistle, McQuaid left the ice without assistance.

"We all know the history with (Cooke)," Crosby said after the game. "It's going to be looked at and scrutinized a lot more because it's him, but I wouldn't go as far to say it's a penalty because it's Cooke."

Bruins forward Chris Kelly came to McQuaid's defence and was given a minor penalty for roughing.

The Bruins won the game 3-0. Game 2 is scheduled for Monday night in Pittsburgh.

Interesting. I can't wait to see what Mario has to say about this!

Oh....

All I can say about Crosby's antics last night is: LOL

Shove Rask, just like you did to Lundqvist. Then hide and talk **** because you're being protected by the linesmen and your teammates. Skill aside, he is the biggest disgrace to hockey.

Perhaps we judge him more because he is Crosby. His skill level is tops in the NHL, and will continue to be for quite some time. It is for that purpose, and that purpose alone, that he deserves to be judged with this kind of scrutiny.

As the best player in the world, you are going to be a role model for future generations of hockey players. Young players now are growing up watching Crosby ***** and moan to the officials, and pick fights when it suits him best (ie. when a ref, linesman, or teammate are nearby). Eight years in the league and he still has no ****ing clue how to handle the responsibility that is on his shoulders.

Did he ask for that? Nope. But it comes with the territory. I eagerly await the day when someone makes him learn that lesson the hard way on the ice. How I yearned for Chara to drop him last night.

Quit being such a baby.

I just wish someone would pop him in his overbite. Hate that smug look on his face. "Oh, I can do whatever I want and not have to face the consequences because the refs save my ass every time."

Pretty much all top players in each sport are whiners. LeBron is a whiner/flopper. Ronaldo is a whiner. ARod was a whiner, but he's toned it down. Messi may be the exception, but he's a superhuman.

I mean if I were him I would just be flat out embarrassed. I am not even exaggerating. I would be so embarrassed watching that game tape the next day. Guy needs a spine transplant.

NHL: consistently inconsistent.

I guess the difference between the Cooke hit on McQuaid and the Torres hit on Stoll is the Principal Point of Contact, namely the head being hit by Torres. Both are, as noted, repeat offenders. Maybe that's why -- as the league is targeting head shots and not hits from behind??? Regardless, that hit on McQuaid was dangerous, but I guess the league deems that it's only worth a game.

Marchand a tough customer?

lirl.

Yeah. People hate him because of the blinders of team alliance. He's a tough guy. He doesn't drop them every time he provokes someone, not because he's too soft, but because of the way the rules of hockey work. It's better to get the opposition bothered and honed in on you then to drop them every time you get the chance, especially when you're a player that can actually score and contribute to an offensive game. I'd love to have him on this team.

Low bridging and cheap-shotting people doesn't = toughness.

Hah, oh Avery. I remember one spring day in Manhattan, I saw a guy on a motorcycle wearing a blue Avery jersey/sunglasses, fly up Park Avenue; Horseshoe mustache and everything, so badass.

He's still a rat, dirty player, diver and even told his trainer that he stayed down because 'he was trying to draw five'.

Still hell of a player. I think he is right up there with Parise and Crosby in lower body strength by dominating the boards, despite a lower height frame.
