Something really needs to be done about this ******* OT thing. Points being handed out across the league because teams are incapable of winning in Regulation.

If you lose you should not get a point for it. Whether it's a shootout or OT or Regulation, if you lose, then you lose. Hundreds of points being given out across the league for this nonsense.

New Scoring system should be:
2 points for regulation/OT win
1 point for shootout win
0 points for any loss

Also change the OT to 10 minutes of 4 on 4. Make it a little longer and cut back on the shootouts.

Getting 0 points for losing a shootout while your opponent getting 2 is not a better option.

Eriah Hayes scored his first NHL goal tonight.

I remember a few of us talking him up last Spring /Summer as a possible FA signing.

The Caps are not a good team...Oates is really doing a bad job with that roster and Holtby has regressed terribly, Neuvirth wants out, and Grubeur isn't ready to be a NHL starter if he'll ever be. What a terrible bunch of mismanagement by Oates and GMGM.

Good. **** them.

They can finish dead last every year for all I care.

Meh, don't like that at all.

2 points for a win. Period. If you're not a good shootout team then win before the shootout, which is a crapshoot anyway.

Better yet, get rid of the shootout. It's not hockey and games shouldn't be decided by a skills competition. Go 4 on 4 for 5 minutes then go 3 on 3 for another 5 minutes. Still tied? Go back to the old system of 1 pt. for a tie for each team. **** the shootout.

I find it hysterical that Guenin, Cliche and Papsmear are not only in the NHL years after being Rangers prospects, but are playing for one of the best teams in the league.

I can see Papsmear getting traded through. He's been scratched lately. Mitchell's having a good year.

and Corey Potter although on a bad Oilers team..

its funny that these prospects found a way to be on good teams after years in the minors and even though they are in the NHL, its not like they are getting a lot of ice time or becoming NHL regulars outside of PA Pareanteau...

Cliche has played 47 games with Avs 5 assist and 0 goals.. he turned out to be a good one  that is horrible

Guenin 41 games for Guenin this year 5 assist and 28 PIM.. played only 73 games in an 8 year Pro career  that is pathetic

PA Parenteau played 277 games in NHL during an 10 year pro career.

No ties. For the money I'm paying, I want someone to lose.

I would think 10 minutes of 4 v 4 would be enough to settle things. I wouldn't have a problem with a tie at that point.

I really liked 3 on 3 hockey when I saw it. Brought me out of my seat.

Wouldn't mind that being tried.

#mnwild left wing Zach Parise has been named captain of the U.S. Olympic team

Craig Custance ‏@CraigCustance 11s
Alternate captains for Team USA behind Parise: Dustin Brown, Ryan Suter

Interesting. Parise has never been an NHL captain, correct?

Captained the Devils the year they beat us in the ECF.

On the 3-point subject, to quote myself:

3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an OT/SO win, 1 point for an OT/SO loss, 0 points for a regulation loss.

Every game worth the same amount of points, and the OT/SO format and timing of games stays the same. Until each game is worth the same amount of points, the standings are a joke.
