Islanders are about to lose to the Coyotes. Assuming they do, that means they would’ve lost six out of their last eight. Starting to come back to reality. Figured the ‘get carried by goaltending’ strategy wasn’t sustainable.

It’s like 2 extra games….,,
The point is it's already too long. When the game was slower and let's be honest, less competitive for half the teams 82 games were alright. The argument could be made that the product would be better with less games. I don't see how anyone could make an argument it would be better with more. It's a cheap way to grab revenue but will only further dilute the product.

I like that for most, 82 games was a bit much and most would be ok with seeing 78 games or even 76 as the playoffs are also a grind. Then you have the NHL trying to make it 84 because it can then recoup more money with 2 extra games a year with revenue, rather than understanding that 84 f***ing games is a harsh grind for players in this type of sport.

I dunno. I used to think there were too many damned games. And realistically there probably are. But I feel like that grind is part of the reason it makes winning the Cup so impressive. It's like... the playoffs are a meat grinder. But you ALSO have to make it through the long distance marathon that is the regular season to even get to the meat grinder.

I remember reading something in the past couple years about how the shift in NFL scheduling to include Thursday games was wreaking havoc on players due to decreased recovery time.

Their regular season is *17 games*. I already don't watch as much and as closely as I used to for a number of reasons, further treating players like products rather than people isn't going to persuade me to hang in for extra games. And even when the Pens got to hoist the Cup twice in a row, along with the joy of those runs was some real intense relief at having a break for a (1) minute 😂

Hayes healthy scratch. Sedlak leaving NHL to go home. God I love the Flyers suffering. It’s sinful how much I love that team just languishing.
Brutal run for their fans, although most seem to be embracing the tank. In recent seasons they've had stretches where they've looked like they could at least win a round, then went off a cliff.

The Flyers are so bad they are totally undoing their early cushion against a lottery pick.

Washington really feeding off the OV energy. They're built like a team that could occassionally go on runs and get immediately swept in round one. Sheary on a line opposite of Ovechkin with Dylan Strome just.. seems like it should be really bad defensively.

Bad night for the Pens…I know NJD is falling off but other teams in the Metro like Rags and Caps are making a push…terrible time to meet Carolina…we need to take both games against them this week and the Rags Tuesday…
