Maybe could work. It would take some thinking by the NHL, so right there any innovation is dead in the water.
This made me snort my coffee.

He suggests a rotation of the existing 4 officials. There still needs to be officials on the ice for when the stupid stuff starts.
Guess I'm jumping on the Devils bandwagon. Can't bring myself to root for anyone else in the East. I doubt they get Lindy his first cup but I could see them making an entertaining run. Out west I will root for the Wild as usual. Though I don't expect much.
As usual, go west. Except for Vegas. And Dallas.Guess I'm jumping on the Devils bandwagon. Can't bring myself to root for anyone else in the East. I gotta look into tickets down here for a game. But I'm pretty sure they're sold out. Thanks to the Panthers I can experience Playoff games. Last couple years against the Bolts has been a great experience. First one was back in 2016 against the Isles. Don't really care for the Panthers anymore though.Panthers bandwagon. Because f*** Hab fans

Cant wait for a playoff series against them. Sabres fans will flood that stadium.
Oh I actually don’t want the Panthers to win the Cup. I just want Hab fans to get f***ed over. Or basically I’m pulling for spite![]()
Could we dress them in 1890's police officer costumes with batons? That, and Benny Hill music. He suggests a rotation of the existing 4 officials.
2 work each night and the other two are in the booth at ice level monitoring. But he wants them in full gear so they can come onto the ice in the even the stupid stuff starts.
Not sure how practical that is but it would be comical to watch them deploy from the observation booth.
SAM VENTURA
VP hockey strategy and research (Sabres)
He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and worked for the Penguins. What else does anybody need to know?
Well, Ventura brought analytics to the Penguins, building out a department that failed to exist before the mid-2010s. Originally a consultant, his data expertise was credited by former GM Jim Rutherford as playing a key role in assisting the Penguins’ Stanley Cup wins in 2016 and 2017. Ventura rose to the rank of director of hockey operations and research before accepting a promotion with the Sabres in July 2021.
Ventura would bring a fundamental understanding of the Penguins’ strengths, weaknesses and culture. Don’t discount the importance of culture; institutional knowledge would be invaluable to an ownership group based outside of Pittsburgh. FSG would win the news conference with Ventura as GM and would probably have picked the right person for the gig, too.
No Botterill on this list but Sam Ventura, the Sabres Hockey Strategy and Research, is on here.

Penguins GM candidates: 10 potential options on Fenway Sports Group’s radar
The Athletic has identified Hall of Famers, assistant GMs, senior advisers and analytics specialists as the Pens' potential next GM.theathletic.com
I wonder if Karmanos would be on their radar given how he is not afraid of analytics. That would be great for Sam and a blow to the Sabres. Torn between hoping he moves up - the sort of disruption a guy without the player background moving into one of those positions based on their data knowledge and management skills would be amazing IMO.

There might be similar questions about Ventura, right?Could be - would wonder what sort of relationships he still has there after leaving their organization.
