I think three major factors that are driving the increase in scoring.
The first is the focus on skills development at all levels of the game. You see more and more young players entering the game with elite level offensive skills. And you see veterans working more on skills in the off season when the focus used to be mostly on strength and conditioning.
ELEV802 exists for one reason, and that is to constantly challenge, educate, and lead individuals to achieve their highest level of fitness. With our number one objective to provide the best training in the safest environment.

The second factor has been GMs changing how they build rosters. Gone are the 6 shift a night fighters and you see more and more teams with 3rd lines that can really score when it used to be that teams really only had two scoring lines, a checking line, and an energy line.
The third factor is how analytics and the idea of the royal road and shot quality have changed how teams attack offensively to be more efficient.
I don't think goaltending is worse as much as it is the cat and mouse game between goalies and shooters swinging back more towards the shooters with the changes that have taken place throughout the game.
Yeah, the biggest difference I see all the time is the ability to move hands and feet simultaneously with heads up, at speed. It’s crazy how if that’s trained while the nervous system still has a high level of plasticity, how a kid can get good at it real fast.
The Toronto pro PEP academy had Tyler Toffolli in it for a year. He left, but not because the training wasn’t valuable. He just couldn’t do it. He brain had already figured out how to play hockey and the simultaneous movement wasn’t part of it.
These skill development trained kids are just starting to make the NHL. In 10 years it’ll be even more tipped towards skill.
I've always envied drummers who can also sing....... Best I could do was hit the snare in time with the hi hat. Adding the bass drum pedal was beyond me. So I play guitar instead. LOL
That's what todays kids can do. All 4 appendages while the mind and eye is focused.....Amazing. I like that word... "plasticity"! Sums it up!

Crazy that if Peter Gabriel never left Genesis Phil Collins would only be known as a great progressive drummer with a great background singing voice.
I just found out today the lead singer on The Four Season biggest hit "December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)" was the drummer they hired in 1973 (Gerry Polci) and not Frankie Valli.
Also I always got a kick out of the drummer singing on The Romantics' "What I Like About You".
I'm surprised the AMA is allowing Vegas to play after the Knights discovered such an amazing series of cures so that miraculously all of their players can come off LTIR. Figured they would want to study them, find out how they did it.

Deen Castronovo was a short time replacement for Steve Perry in Journey. He was their drummer at the time. It's amazing what he was able to sing and play at the same time.

That's so similar to Queensrÿche right now - their original (and the only real) lead singer was Geoff Tate who is epic. Like almost Rob Halford epic (but there is only one Halford). He left the band after some infighting and they replaced him with Todd La Torre, who is a drummer and who states he really still wants to be a drummer and not a singer, but he sounds almost EXACTLY like Tate, which is insane because Tate has one of the most unique voices in music. La Torre doesn't even get to drum at all.
Listen to the comparison on "Take Hold of the Flame" which is a very hard song to sing. Geoff is still the best, but Todd does about as good as Deen does on the Steve Perry songs.
Karen Carpenter didn't only have one of the sweetest voices in music - she was also a SICK drummer. She powers this version of "Dancing in the Street" and then does an absolute killer drum solo.
Also, Roger Taylor from Queen was an awesome singer who sang lead a lot more than you'd think.
Dave Grohl, Don Henley, Sheila E, and even Peter Criss and Ringo Starr could sing.

Luckily for Pennsylvania, they don't have another NHL team for Hextall to ruin. (Ruin may be too harsh, the Pens were a bit f'd when he took over and he tried to patch a leaking boat.)
Latvia!! Man, apparently Balcers is in the Syracuse Crunch, the AHL affiliate of the Lightning. What a waste, we (us Sharks fans you and me) taught him how to play PK last year and then Grier just let him go like that.
