Around the NHL: PTO Season Becomes Waiver Season

Who wanted Horvat? I thought it was more frustration that the Isles were making moves and the Sabres weren’t. Didn’t want that player, personally, just a player. Of immediate substance. Instead we got Greenway and Stillman, meh.

Also, I know it’s sacrilege, but am I the only one low-key rooting for the leafs this year? I don’t like a lot of their players, but I like TB even less, and the leafs are entertaining, at least. The jokes are old and the fans get so damned defensive- let ‘em win one round, lose to Boston, and then we can all just laugh about that legacy. Although f*** Boston too.

God I hope the Devils come out of the East and someone other than Vegas (or the Kraken for that matter) come from the West.

Vegas/Boston Finals would be insufferable. The "Eichel vs Hometown Team" and "Cassidy vs Old Team" storylines would be beat to death.

Sens up 3-1 on the Panthers after two.

Devils and Isles tied at one midway through the second.

EDIT: Palmieri puts Isles up 2-1. F***

Wings leading Pens 3-0 after the first...

She has done a few and the impact on the new team seems like it almost always take a hit.

Anything showing how much of an impact he has on the team, instead of just his offensive production? For a guy known to have a solid two-way game, seems that is another half that they should look at.

5 red wings penalties in the 2nd, including TWO 5 on 3s, zero penguin penalties, 3 penguin goals and the wings coach got kick out of the game.

Not a great period for the Detroit Red Wings -Rob Ray

In this case he's still generating chances, they're just not going in. What's really surprising imo, is that he's generating better xG with 50% less Ozone possession time.

The non-interference call where Zucker is sticking his blade under the goalie's pad to push the puck in the net was peak NHL.

Thank you Detroit
I have a feeling I'm happy about this for a different reason. The way Buffalo is playing, and with the teams they play to end the season, it's not possible at all for them to get the last WC spot. It just isn't. What IS possible is that 3-5 teams pass Buffalo in league standings, and they 1) get better odds for the draft lottery and 2) have a legit chance to draft one of just two players that truly interest me after the top 4-5 prospects. If they land outside that draft range, I'd MUCH rather KA trade the pick in a big deal to add a big player. I just have zero belief that KA would do that, so...draft position is all I got.

Chances are nice. But, that 50% drop in production is rough.

Tarasenko has had less of a regression after his trade to the Rangers.

I am just pointing out that the impact of making deadline trades gets overblown by a lot of media and fans.

There were some data guys doing work on baseball trades who found players who were having down years tended to be better in their new city while those having strong years tended to perform worse. I'll have to see if I can find that again.
