disaster? They have no pipeline anyway, this is their big shot again before the core ages another year.
The Bruins are going to take a big step back the moment Bergeron retires. He's a first-ballot hall-of-famer who still seems to be pretty significantly underrated. Having the best defensive forward in a generation on the ice for more than 1/3 helps you will a whole *lot* of games.

Having lived through the Sabres tear down to make sure they wound up in the money so to speak in the 2015 draft, I understand why everyone is trying to get there. And it isn't just Bedard. That second tier of guys (Fantilli, Carlsson, Michkov, Benson) all look like they are going to be top line guys. It's the drop after 6 that gets into dicey terratory to get a an impact player.

ive never had an issue with teams tanking because I think your goal is a championship

but the last few years in this league looking at what the bottom does and how it effects the standings, I'm swinging around to a position where I think this league in particular needs to sort itself out because its been bad for hockey

of course if i list the things that the NHL allows that are bad for hockey tanking probably needs a page refresh before I get to it

I cant imagine putting your name on a league where the minor problems would be 24/7 discussions in the major sports and not being embarrassed to be part of it

It's time to give the lottery the heave ho.

agreed but I dont think it fixes it, just minimizes the issue

but its made losing so much more valuable then competing and failing

nothing + pride or 3.5% chance at bedard

go extreme and stop revenue sharing for teams that dont hit a specific points percentage over a specific time frame, because my complaint is more about how many teams are just straight non-competitive

I'd also raise the cap floor somewhat significantly

With a draft system, the worst team should get the first pick. They created their own problem.

Now, scratching guys by announcing trade considerations and then NOT having the guy dealt is really weird. It used to be a guy would be out of the lineup the night of a game and then traded that night or the next day. But the Gavrikov and Chychrun stuff is just out of hand.
