This has been one boring ass offseason trades wise.

We are in the midst of the dead season in the NHL and we haven't had a deal in over three weeks since ADB was dealt to Detroit. And that is the only trade that has happened between July 3rd and today.

The lack of cap space around the league is the #1 reason why so few trades have happened. And that is why when all the media people put out their offseason articles about trades, I always felt like it was going to be really quiet this summer.

It's not sexy and it won't generate clicks and views, but this is about what I expected. Especially from the Sabres.

Buffalo ran away with this, which won’t shock anyone. The Sabres didn’t make any huge splashes on the back end or in goal, though, so they have left the door open for another young team in the East to give them a solid fight.

Four clear favorites emerged in this exercise: Carolina, New Jersey, Edmonton and Colorado. All of those are logical picks.

After that, the pool was pretty wide open. Some clearly see the bull case for Minnesota as well because it ranked sixth. The Bedard hype landed Chicago in the top 10. Buffalo, Detroit and Montreal are some of the other young teams on the rise that finished in the top half.

Cutting your contending window short because you're waiting on power is stupid.

I hope the players are at least unhappy with the lack of help they're getting once again. The vibe will run out with another playoff less season.

A fan being unhappy with the team because of your sense of a lack of help is one thing, projecting it onto players is just talking make believe

A little high for my taste but Anaheim has A TON of cap space. Need to hit the floor somehow.

Edit: Yeah 7X7 sounds right. Wasn't aware for Terry's productivity. Similar to Cozens.

7 million per is a long way from 4.5 that the Ducks offered, and not far from the 8 Terry was asking for ...

Have to think that the arbitration award was going to be less that 7 mil, but they did add some term

Didn't know how many NHLers were on that team... Hope Kale Clague isn't one of them.
Clague came out a while back saying he wasn't involved. The only guys to have no comment are Batherson, McCleod, Katchouk, and Formenton. What's interesting to me, is that means a few guys may be lying about not being involved. I haven't gone into the weeds on what's been publicly available so far though so who knows.

It's going to be really interesting to see what kind of punishments are handed out.

If a shithead bully like Mitchell is banished to Slovakia, what happens to a group of gang rapists?

They can easily play in KHL, at least I won't be surprised.

C'mon man lol. You mentioned not pulling the trigger on Timo / Chychrun were "big negatives" and then went on to say Adams going the internal development route was the "riskier" path. Acting like there isn't a ton of risk that goes with making a big trade like that. You can prefer one way to building a team. There's no issue with that. That's your opinion. Misrepresenting what other people say to try and win an argument isn't necessary. There's not really a need to be bad faith on here. This isn't debate club.
I’ve repeatedly made the point since before this discussion even started. It’s not something I came up with during this discussion. If you misunderstood a point I was making, sorry. Which I tried to clarify very early by pointing out that I wasn’t saying there was a large difference, just clarifying why I preferred 1 position over the other. Then suddenly I was defending myself against omg how could you think this. So keep your debate club nonsense I’ve been transparent that I don’t think there’s a big difference between the 2 position since the start.

In fact during this exchange other poster understood this and had their own replies. You’re the only 1 that went down this path.
