Yeah, they are going to have to do something drastic with what they have left. That said, I do wonder how many wins they get if Norris is healthy all year. The arms race between Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit is fascinating to watch unfold.
The car in the race with the best engine, most money for parts and most parts to move is still sitting at the starting line of the race

The comment was on the NHLN intermission where they threw out St. Louis as a possible Meier darkhorse because of all their picks and that Doug Armstrong wants to rebuild quickly.

Also, a lot of talk on the 32 Thoughts and they mentioned the Sharks want multiple first rounders/a lot of picks so they can move around in the draft and also restock a low overall depth to their prospect pool.

Friedman mentions the usuals: Jersey, Carolina (as a possible rental), and wonders at Vegas and Winnipeg.

So I've had the thought that instead of losing Johnson for a low 2nd next year and Portillo for nothing, maybe they dangle them in front of the Kings and see if we can get anything of value. Yes, I'm jumping the gun on Johnson but I just don't see it happening at this point. Also, go Isles.

I wonder at someone like Carson Soucy since as Irie has pointed out, he seems to be a possible guy shuffled out in Seattle. Since they don't have a good goaltending prospect and their net is so unsettled, perhaps that would be a destination for Portillo and some sort of pick to get Soucy as a rent-to-sign type.

Might be a good target, but what's he going to want to re-sign? I'd think on the open market he could easily get a 5x5 or something.......would he be willing to take less than Sammy?

I think we need to set aside a pure UFA signing fitting into a deal that mostly is RFA seasons.

Also, it looks like the Flames are about to be upset by the Flyers. They might be selling on deadline day, much to their own surprise.

Flyers playing their depth goalie are now up on Calgary who are supposedly fighting to get into playoff position 4-3 with about 5 minutes left in the third.
