Toronto smacked Tampa the last time they played, I wouldn't overreact to one game.

I do hope that's a series though. Toronto will be my team to watch this year; they have the potential to win it all this year, but no team maybe since I've been alive will have more pressure on them from minute one of the playoffs.

They would lose a playoff series to Arizona.

If you watch them the teams aren't comparable. I would take NYR 10 out of 10 going into ANY playoff series.

Nylander is an offensive beauty when he wants to be, but as a complete player is a joke and not anyone I would want on my team going into a playoff series. He may have his moments, but I want nothing to do with him...

He's a strong all around player. Offensively and defensively. He's not physical.

Unpopular opinion: Gary Bettman and Bill Daly steered the league ship right. Avoiding the Olympics was the right move. Now every team has played just about the same number of games to wind down the season and begin the playoffs.

If you really think he is a strong defensive player than I could not disagree with you more. He cheats to offense all the time and is a cupcake of a player which shows in his own zone whenever a more physical team starts to assert itself. Respectfully could not disagree more...

They are legal minds, they operate in legality ways. This is a good thing at times and at other times makes them appear out of touch as keepers of the league, but considering they work for the owners they do an outstanding job navigating most pitfalls for the owners and that is why they get paid the way they do.

There is no part of me that thinks toronto would beat tampa in a series unless vaz has a leg amputated but is still playing...

I think it all comes down to what the Stars do. Anyway Vancouver lost tonight in regulation and their schedule is pretty tough as well so they are in trouble.
I’m rooting for Vancouver and Vegas to get in but it’s not looking great. I just dislike the Kings and find Dallas and Nashville so boring.

I too think Toronto needs to be taken seriously people write them off because of past failures but every edition of a team fails until it doesn’t. I think this could be the year TML fails to fail.

I just dont see them as changed as other people want them to be. I see a more refined offensive team that is more effective in their game and strengths, but a team that relies/relied on elite goaltending as much as NYR did earlier in the year, yet I see some of the same people that think NYR cant win think TML can win.

No, you’re right. They’re not changed. But I’d say, just like we’re waiting for our big guys to take a next step, so are the Leafs. But the Leafs guys are more experienced.
The rangers did much more to bolster the lineup with consequential vets. But if Matthews, Marner, etc, finally take a step forward in their playoff game, they can make a move. I’m not saying I think they’re going to be champs but I could see them getting to the conference finals.

People on here always overreact to individual games. Toronto also beat Tampa 6-2 about 2 weeks ago. It means nothing and neither does last night's game, especially without Matthews. Too many people writing off Toronto because of past failures. Tampa got swept in first round the year before they won the cup. Toronto is very good and have had a great season and if they get they goaltending they could do some damage.

We complain about Sam and joe a lot but whoever this announcer on nhl network right now is (I think it’s the wild announcers) absolutely is terrible

Kaprizov just got his point number 100. Wild single season record by a far, and he has changed the Wild from the most booring team to one that really play fun hockey (with the help of Fiala, Brody and MZA).

I was going to post about him. Not bad for a 5th round pick.

The Rangers and Wild had the same narrative forever drafting good to very good solid two way forwards but not having a guy who gets fans out of seats. Wild found one.

But theyve never had elite goaltending and they still don't. I think they rely on pretty good goaltending and if they get more than that they dominate.

I would love to see them against tampa. Everybody's on vasilevskys dick now but he and the lighting got swept by columbus right before their cups... They're human too. It'll come down to matthews. For me that's the fun question: which wins out, tmls pathetic history or mathews brilliance?

I don't think they're built for Playoff Hockey. They can win a round and IMO that's as far as they will go

Guess it depends on the matchups. I think they have better chances against teams like Florida and Carolina than they do against NYR, PIT, WAS, BOS.

Tampa Bay is just not going to have the stomach for a 3 peat....they will be out round @1 . The hunger will not be there this year .

This does not address the frequency of the scenario above. Nylander is soft.

So what? 7 goals, 12 points in his last 12 playoff games. What more do you want? People just don't like him because of the contract dispute even though he ended up very underpaid.
