So basically to make the playoffs you need at least 100 points. That goes for both conferences. That's 16 teams with over 100 points.

Also, Draisaitl with a hatty, so he's putting some distance from Kreider again.

Miller, J.T. , 100 point player... it's happening

Kreids and JT were my boys from yesteryear. Over guys like Stepan and even McD. Anyway, who would have thunk it and placed a bet that JT would get a 100, and Kreids with 50+? Any bookie and any legal gambling co. would have given 10,000-1 odds (at least?)
What a parlay! Lol

This isn’t a year to really gauge things on, it seems. If I had to guess, even for Matthews this ends up being a career year with 60 something. Kreider won’t be a 50 guy again, Miller won’t be 100 point guy, I’d be shocked to see Gaudreau stay at 100 points after signing a new deal, Kadri will never have another season like this, Josi will never have anything like a 90 point season again, Tkachuk won’t be near a 100 point player. Huberdeau as a 110+ guy won’t be regular. Stamkos and Ovie being well over point per game at this point in their careers. Unless the NHL is going to have a genuine full-time shift to 80s like scoring, this season will be an outlier for a ton of guys.

It also makes McDavid and Draisaitl look a lot more human, IMO, as everyone else caught up this year but they didn’t boost their numbers an extra 20-30 points over normal like many have.

When I look at the canes I don’t see much skill there. DeAngelo is probably their most talented guy offensively then aho I guess. Svechnikov isn’t really a skill guy although I’d love to have him. But more north south player.

If they didn’t work so hard they’d lose a lot more games where we can skill ourselves into wins we don’t always deserve.

Canes I think will really struggle to score come playoff time. I think they are out in the first or second round.

IMO a lot of the Canes success comes from their conditioning. They are relentless for 3 periods. You may be able to get them for a period or two but once you start slacking, they smack you in the mouth.

Is it any different than the Knicks of last year going all out in the regular season and then having nothing in the tank left in the playoffs? Mind you the Canes are much more talented in their sport than that Knicks team, but still.

My condolences to the family of Mike Bossy and the NY Islanders organization for his passing. One of the greatest goal scorers/snipers in NHL history. He killed the NY Rangers on more than one occasion, but always had great respect for him as a player.

Still rather Copp than Miller, the guy fits absolutely perfectly on this team, has been over a PPG and Miller would have cost us a ton. I can't wait to see how he fares at C during the PO's. Buh-bye Strome, hello Kakko PP1 next season.

Something to keep an eye on:

Mike Sullivan said Tristan Jarry is being evaluated for a lower-body injury, and will not travel with the team to Boston.

Got hit by Anders Lee as Lee slid into him but continued on and didn't come out of game. Interesting

I’d rather face him than desmith.

Jarry has been really bad lately and he is a bad goal away from gifting you a golden ticket to the second round

I don't think Boston or Washington gets past Carolina but I think Washington would do a much better job at beating them up.

Since Florida got Claude Giroux, they went on an 11-1 run counting tonight's game,... which they are up 4-0 after two. He has 15 points in these 12 games. I said when they got him,... It's just not fair they get the biggest player at the TDL. It's just not fair.

Geez, he's my age. I remember vividly his 50 in 50 games like yesterday. He needed two goals the last game, and got them both with less than 5 minutes left in the game. He was a true legend. 9 straight years with 50 or more goals. He played only 10 seasons. Scored 60 or more 5 times. Records that will never be broken.

RIP big guy.

Not sold on their defense and goaltending.

Zegras and Svechnikov and all the young skilled guys in the league are welcome to hit the Michigan all they want. If they can execute it, that’s good on them and bad on the opposing D and goalie. They’ll stop doing it when they start getting stopped at a high rate and it becomes low percentage for them to try it. Until that point, go for it. When D start reading it and coming around the other side for the hit (or just standing them up and forcing the turnover, it doesn’t have to be head hunting) then good for the D. I’m fine with it.

Malkin and the Pens in general have actual trouble controlling their emotions. They have actual tantrums as adults. That’s the odor of true entitlement. It’s gross and it makes them easy to dislike, despite their talent. Hope he gets a few games for that.

Love Jeannot.
Malkin is lashing out like an angry child. People say “he hates losing” but really it’s just - like you say - throwing tantrums. More worrisome than that, though, is how some guys actually flip their lid with rage. Like Jay Beagle. Like Tom Wilson on so many occasions. These guys, their eyes roll back into their heads and they lose it. It happens a few times a year, maybe more. I don’t get how it’s not a discussion, even.

Mark Stone back, a with a bunch of new salary on LTIR. Please hockey gods, let that team miss the playoffs.
I actually want to see that group make it to the playoffs. Call me crazy. I like to see a stacked team.
