Have any of you been catching some Wild games?

Zuccarello is insane. I’m so sad we lost him. He’s killing it on their first line.

I miss him.

Zucc wouldnt have been happy here going through the rebuild, and it was the right move to trade him when they did, but man do I miss him. He and Panarin would've created some beautiful music together

It's hard to imagine the Penguins ever having a bad season for the rest of our lives.

They are a machine. Doesn't matter how many guys get hurt, even Crosby/Malkin being out doesn't bother them, they win no matter what its truly amazing

And every couple years they get into unbeatable mode. Hopefully they have already hit their peak this year but sometimes I think they're gunna win like 25 of 27 or something
Watch them end up with Bedard somehow next year after Crosby and Letang go down with season long injuries and they bink the lottery.

Figured I’d take a gander at the comments and see what Isles fans are thinking they should do this offseason. One fan suggested using the Pens, Caps, Rangers as a model to get younger. Good old anti-Ranger Danteipp with another doozy!

“I wouldn't necessarily use the Rags as a model. They aren't winning games because of young players like Laf, Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist, Lindgren, etc. taking a big role.

They are riding ridiculous seasons from 4-5 vets, specifically a career/fluke year from Kreider, Strome on a contract drive (hopefully they give him ~$7+ mm AAV for six-plus years), Fox and Shesterkin essentially being the end all and be all of their defense.

When you get fluke performances from Kreider, who is seemingly on pace for 55-60 goals, and perhaps an even bigger fluke in players like Goodrow with 10 goals (when he has never scored more than eight goals in a full year), a scab like Rooney with six goals (who helped get them off to a quick start with 5 goals in the first 19 games), you are going to get lucky and win a lot of games.

A goalie with a .937 SV% covers a lot of ills, at least until he wears down and gets hurt again.”

I mean .. hyperbole aside...that's a pretty fair take.

We are essentially being carried by shesterkin, fox and our pp. (Kreider, Mika and the vets)

To say Lindgren and Miller have done nothing all year and haven’t taken strides though? That’s hyperbole. Chytil has been a disappointment. I don’t think he fits Gallant’s style of high-motor forecheck very well, and I think Laf’s issue is ice time and confidence.

Doesn't hurt that he has some guy named Kaprizov on his line.

That said, I'd be tickled to watch a Bread, Strome, Zuc line trotted out there nightly.

Me too? ;)

Zucc understands why the trade happened, cap thing with Panarin and all that. But the funny thing is Zucc being a better player than Panarin this season, at half the cost.

Zucc wouldnt have been happy here going through the rebuild

Really? He would never be unhappy here, and I'd say he's a perfect mentor for the young guys. Kaprizov loves him.

Nope. Just sour grapes from a hater who wishes his team had the talent and youth that the Rangers do. Having a Norris trophy winner, a Vezina trophy caliber goalie, and a top PP wins you a lot of games in this league. We also Kakko, Laf, Miller, Goodrow, Strome, Trouba, Schneder, who can and will make an impact.

No thanks. They'd be chasing the puck all night and getting worked on the walls.

You're absolutely right, though, Kaprizov makes Zucc click. Zucc continues to get bodied up and down the ice and needs people to open space for him to do his magic.

Wonder if this same Isles fan is willing to acknowledge the fact that a lot of their success over the last two seasons was due to the shortened season. Probably not

Every team has their advantages and disadvantages. Rangers have sustained it long enough now that it would be disingenuous to say that we're not for real. Are we in the same league as other top teams that have had years upon years to rebuild? No, but we're headed in the right direction.
