Me too but that penalty shot call. Woof. It was a penalty but not a penalty shot.

Ya, last few years it felt like they should have called more to promote the exciting aspects of the game. They didn't make it public but perhaps this year they're calling them more often.

That penalty shot was not some generous interpretation of the rules, it was just a bad call. I wanted the Devils to win and the game not going into OT is great, but I think the Pens got hosed.

Wish we got Coleman over Goodrow. Coleman signing with the Flames was so random but he’s been good for them

That definitely appears that it would have been the better investment currently.

Sounds like the Golden Knights are closing in on Eichel.

People are going to see the return and inevitably say "well, we could have done that."

Except we couldn't have. I have the feeling talks with the Rangers went like this:

Them: "We want Kakko or Lafreniere."

Us: "Um...no? Nobody else can give you that so it's above market value."

Them: "It starts with them or we're not talking."

Us: "Then we're not talking."

Same thing happened to the Yankees in 2018 when they wanted Gerrit Cole, and the Pirates asked for prospects nobody else on the market could match, so talks fell apart.

Probably true and fine with me.

I’m hoping the Rangers are sniffing around the periphery of this deal and find a way to extract some value by enabling it somehow.

No doubt Eichel was never in the cards for us. Buffalo painted themselves into a corner, and the Knights or Flames will be more than happy to get him.

Eichel on the Knights would be a nasty team.

I’m getting ahead of myself, but this makes me curious as to what move we do eventually make at the deadline. We have assets, cap space, and a pretty good team.
