Malkin out 2 months minimum and Sid missing a few weeks. If Jarry looks like he did against the Isles, I could see them being on the outside. Hard to bet against them though, they seem to always find away.

This really feels like the year of their decline though. Malkin missing serious time, Crosby missing time. Their goaltending is not very good. Defense is vastly overrated. On top of that the teams behind them improved in the offseason. They might not miss, but this is not a division winning team and I think is more of a wildcard team at best.

I mean, we expect the Rangers, Devils, Flyers, and Islanders to be better teams. Washington is more stagnant and Carolina could go either way with losing Hamilton but they have improvements to their roster in other areas and youth getting better. Columbus is rebuilding.

I believe you can put bets on teams to miss the postseason. This is the first year I could see doing that. Washington I think has a chance to stick and contend longer since they have two solid goalies.

Seattle up 4-3 on Van.....if they make the playoffs with that team before us it might be time for a new rebuild.

Well, Van is one of the worst teams in the league so even ignoring the fact it was a preseason game, it doesn't really mean much.

And Seattle will be god awful this season.

What's the end game here?

The Sabres are essentially de-valuing their #1 asset.

Are they hoping that he decides to have the procedure/rehab they want him to have and continue to play for the Sabres? Making that more difficult now by stripping him of his captaincy...

He doesn't want to play there and he has been adamant about not wanting to follow the health plan the Sabres are suggesting.

What a mess.
The end game is they hold him until a team meets their demands.

Kid's really going places.

A family member had a really good point about this decision.”Really? , playing for the garbage ass Devils and living in Newark is better than banging Russian Models all day ?“ though a good point but I’m still on team hockey. I’m at the get off my lawn phase in my life it seems.

Poor life choices.
He’ll make more money with an almost 0% chance of injury from his profession. Also he’ll be able to do it in his home country and will be able to continue his career well past 35.

Being a professional athlete isn’t for everyone. And it certainly isn’t a dream job. Anyone who thinks that has not been apart of the process of being a pro athlete.
