I'm so glad Tampa not only beat Montreal but gave them the over-the-knee spanking they deserved.

I would be more into teams getting on crazy runs if people just admitted that's what it is.

Instead I'm listening to Habs fans (and other Canadians) crow about how special their team is. Good for Kucherov for calling them out!

And there's nothing wrong with saying it! Liverpool weren't a top 4 team in their own country in 2005; that doesn't mean we enjoy the European Championship any less because we admit that. Ditto for the Giants winning Superbowl 46. Actually, I think there's even more romance to it when you acknowledge that it was f***ing nuts and doesn't f***ing happen again if you play it over 999 times. Wow, 1/1000 and you were there buddy!

Except you weren't there because Tampa Bay broke a f***ing Budweiser bottle over your heads.
So much god damn luck involved in hockey which everyone ignores when it's convenient.

As much as I hate the Isles I wish Kucherov said the Cup was sealed when they managed to get though the Isles, ya know an actual quality team.

Are they "Barely Breathing"?

People who are happy with the trade are said to be "On a High".

According to the EDM writers, apparently provide leadership to McDavid and Draisaitl LOL

The amount of water they carry for that team...wew.
I want to scream at that team’s management and I don’t even care about the Oilers.

2/5 OF YOUR HIGHEST-PAID FORWARDS ARE NEAL AND KASSIAN

What in God’s name does Edmonton need Duncan Keith for?

I have no idea why the Oilers wanted Keith, it's very strange.

What do the Rangers need some older past his prime defender for? I don't know yet it get suggested all the time. Like they need a Staal replacement, it too is a strange idea to me.

Keith's greatest contribution might be in the room and as a 3rd pair or 7D.

No team with just talent in the modern era has ever just pranced in an won the Cup. Always need vets to help with a program.

Even a team like Carolina in 2006 added some vets for their Cup run.

I like the Keith trade. It was obvious from some of the McDavid presser after their season ended that there weren't enough leaders in the room. McDrai were drowning with the pressure and responsibilities. They were the face of the franchise, leaders on the off the ice, expected to say and do all the right things while having nothing to work with on team depth. This is Holland keeping McDavid and Draisaitl happy and going out to get a guy that can be leaned on. As an on-ice move, it's not great on top of their existing bad contracts but this is really medicine for the entire franchise.

thats fine, there are still better options at less money than 5.5m for the next two years.
Edmonton had Chicago over a barrel, Keith had a no move, and they didn’t need him.
Chicago retained no salary, and gave up a mediocre prospect. And there’s a conditional pick going the other way.

the only ones happy about this deal is ownership because it’s an ottawa special (cap hit is higher than dollars).

espn put it well, this trade was negligent. Great job on Chicago’s end do to this but Jesus if I’m mcdavid I go public and make it clear I’ve lost faith in the teams ability to build.
