They wouldn’t give a shit about his jam when he goes through one of his 24-games-0-goals stretches.

He has helped Montreal get to the playoffs and the Finals. Would you take that or take a guy who goes on a 10 game goal scoring streak but fails to make the playoffs?

You can also go 10% over the upper limit in the summer. The rules are the rules, and they didn’t break anything. That’s just something they were smart to take advantage of.
The good ol ingenious strategy of willingly losing *checks notes* your best player for the entire regular season?

No that’s the point they’d rather have Kucherov then adding players like Savard. They are just so good that they can get by without Kucherov.

Yea they didn’t break any rules while a team like Vegas went through the trouble of trading a player like Nate Schmidt to Vancouver to gain the cap space to sign Alex Pietrangelo. New Jersey also didn’t break any rules when they signed Kovalchuk to that 17 year contract to circumvent the cap. Stop defending these cheaters. I get it that there is no salary cap in the playoffs (another rule that needs to be changed) but Tampa is playing with a $98 Million dollar team.

Except the Devils did circumvent the cap, hence why they got fined a draft pick and had to amend it to a 15 year deal.

They utilized the same system all 31 teams in the league have available to them. That’s not cheating. You’re delusional if you think they’d have willingly sat Kucherov for a normal 82 game season to add David f***ing Savard.

If Vegas was so worried about losing Nate Schmidt they shouldn’t have obsessed over building their roster like an NBA super team with high paid star players.

Yea but by your logic the Devils shouldn’t have been punished because they didn’t break any rules. Tampa Bay is CIRCUMVENTING the cap.

Tampa is literally not breaking any rules.

Blame the CBA/league, not the team. Blame other GMs for not capitalizing on the same rules.

They didn’t do it to get David Savard; they did it to re-sign Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak before the season started. Know your facts and your role before you speak.

In order for other teams to break the rules the same way they’d have to tell a high paid player to get injured during the off-season. So Drury should tell Trouba to go take up some dangerous hobbies this off-season, right?

There is no salary cap in the playoffs and during the regular season they were under the cap bc if they weren’t, they’d have been forced to play a game short handed like Vegas had too. If you wanna cry about it, drop a note in the NHL’s complaint box. That’s just the reality of it.

It’s cuz your point is wrong. They traded for Savard and had TWO teams retain salary to get his deal done. I have no problem with the Savard deal.

Please explain what is so wrong about the underlying point here.

Canadiens that need to get DEX Imaged:

Price
E. Staal
Gallagher

Yes. If you believe Tampa "broke the rules" then you believe they told Kucherov to hurt himself.

How many games did Kucherov play this season when the cap mattered? Sit down.

The Kucherov injury was legitimate. The league investigated it (which means at least one team brought it up to the league) and they confirmed the injury. The timing of the surgery, the ability to return to play, and his salary are all too coincidental because they had RFA’s to sign and no space to do it. Did they break the rules? Technically no. Did they plan it this way to circumvent the cap? Hell yes.

So then they didn't break the rules.
