The only reason it made sense to trade McDonagh was so we didn't have to give him a long term contract only to turn around and trade exactly what we got from Tampa for Trouba and give him the same exact contract we would have given McDonagh.
I don’t think Trouba is better than McDonagh in any sense, but c’mon he’s half a decade younger. Trouba fits the timeline so much more than McD.

That trade... it hurts.

Hopefully Lundkvist brings it back a little.

This was my biggest gripe with Gorton and at the time it was a sign of some big problems to come. Miller was only traded because AV wanted him out. So that means at least as of February 2018 he was still being factored into future roster decisions.

And then Gorton turns around and fires him less than 2 months later?

Where was the long term thinking there? What could have possibly happened in that time period where AV won out on trading away one of our best players...

Tampa is winning another Cup. It is what it is.

I dont like how they worked the system but they have been my 2nd team for 20 some odd years now.

Their 'style' is what's best for the game. Hopefully we can emulate this Tampa roster. The blueprint is there... and we have all the 'hard to find' pieces IMO. Need to balance that high end skill with some grit.

Nah. Did you see Cooper before puck drop? He looked greasier than usual. A good sign for tonight.

Quit playin' with yourself Cooper

and this has always been my sticking point.

I WANT GAMERS. WINNERS. Players that are good in the regular season but take it to another level in big games/post season. Too often we look at regular season production... I do not want a team built for the regular season.
