It’s possible, but he signed prior to the season meaning he knew what was going on. It would make more sense to me if it was the last season of a multi year deal. Maybe he just had enough Torts drama.

That’s not a job I’d be crazy about getting. They should start looking into a rebuild, but how do you sell that to Sid? I doubt Mario let’s Hextall trade him unless Sid demands it and he doesn’t seem like that kind of guy.
Was that Butch Goring during the Isles/Pens shootout who tried to call in advance what each player was going to do on their shootout attempt, only to have every player do something different than what he predicted?

people always complain because there is no perfect answer...you have 2 conflicting thoughts that everyone agrees with. 1) you can't reward teams that are intentionally tanking and 2)the purpose of the draft order is to help teams that are legitimately bad...the problem though is that you can't protect against one without potentially impacting the other. and to that point how do you prove who is tanking? where the red wings legitimately bad? or where they bad because they were tanking and made the decision to not field a legit team?
1995-2012 the draft lottery was so you could only move up 4 spots. so you could only get the #1 pick if you were a bottom 5 team...everyone argued that it encouraged tanking to get into that bottom 5. so in 2015 they changed it to make the odds lower for the bottom 4 teams to make it less beneficial to tank....2016 they went a step further and made the lottery for the top 3 picks. to further discourage tanking for bubble teams that might not make the playoffs....every time it changes its because people complained. now the complaint is to go back to how it was from 95-12. but we already know the flows that has so it would only be a matter of time before people complain about that.
and I also think its unfair and inaccurate in a way to say that the rangers won twice since last year's draft lottery wasn't normal with double lottery. if you want to argue that was unfair and stupid thats one thing. but it doesn't prove that the current process is broken cause it wasn't really the current process.

It’s still too early to tell. But that is the last thing they should have been doing, and you heard about Vegas pulling a player who tested positive? Couldn’t get the results before the game? It’s been a mess.

If it were up to me, his season would be over. The league has to crack down on the behavior or this is going to unravel.
