should have signed with a legit playoff team like Capitals or Flyers
I don't think it matters the team, at some point players just dont have it in them anymore and I am surprised he is the first one to go this year. Won't be surprised if a couple more do as well if covid keeps affecting so much of the season for the league, teams, and individuals.

Hextall and Burke in for Pittsburgh.

This will either be a surprising marriage or they will eat each other alive.

Wondering if either will have the patience or longevity for a true rebuild, because that will be what it takes. Not easy or quick
Real interesting combination. Burke for the open window; Hextall for the long haul.

Although I seem to remember Burke being somewhat pessimistic about the Penguins chances to be a Stanley Cup contender this year as late as last Friday (on NHL Radio)

why retire in the middle of a shorten season? this makes no sense at all.
Koivu holds himself to a pretty high standard. And now that it became clear his game was not at the level he wanted, he decided to hang them up. It's 100% or nothing, not 98%. Nothing wrong with that.

I was hoping he would return to Finland and finish out his career at TPS, but it sounds like that's not happening... :(

If you were a vet at the end of your career dealing with this covid season on a team that probably wont make the playoffs in this divisions, is it possible you'd lose the passion for the grind and just want to spend time with your family?

Their days are much longer too. Much longer with the COVID protocols. I don't know the exact timing, but that testing takes a while.

In his book (seriously fascinating read if you enjoy the business of hockey), Burke said that he always likes to make a big move at the end of his first year as GM with a new team. Bobby Holik for Eric Weinrich and Sean Burke, the Sedins, and Kessel.

Crosby/Malkin/Letang dealt at the draft incoming. :sarcasm:

what did he say? i thought it was the opposite and they definitely wouldn't be interest on him?

He said that there were a number of steps he would go through but it was a player with talent. There's also a video clip of Burke from HNIC on one of the other threads saying the same thing.
I’m with Leetchie. My memory of the TV hit was that he talks about the pluses and minuses of ADA, acknowledges that talent will always garner interest, describes what steps an interested team would take to get comfortable... and then ended by saying he himself would NOT acquire the player.

I could certainly be misremembering, though.

You are correct. He did hedge his bets a bit by saying if he was another GM, he probably would...but he probably wouldn’t. Whatever that means.

OMG! Who is this A.J. Molesco person? I am not a hurtful person, but I simply "had to" shut off the Nash/T.B. game due to the irritating feeling I was getting from listening to his/her voice.
I mean, that's how bad it was.....couldnt even decipher what gender. Had it been a Rangers game, I would've muted. I would take a combo of Mike Milbury and Pierre McGuire 1000x over consecutively (no less) not to EVER have to hear that voice again.
Please forgive me Lord. I didnt wanna watch that game anyway.

I have very little "filter", and look where I am! Oh wait.....
Maybe I better re-think this. Haha. Maybe that's why I liked Tony so much, he reminded me of ............well, u know.

Hextall drafted some really good players for Philly. I was hoping PIT would hire some crappy GM like Botterill. Oh well.

Edmonton won tonight without McD or Drai registering a point.

That is the first time they’ve won a single game in which neither picked up a point since 2017.

Insane. They deserve better.

Since the last time they won when neither got on the sheet, this is their record in games neither of them picked up a point in:

2017-18 (0-12-0, 8 shutouts)
1. Dec 10: 1-0 L
2. Dec 14: 4-0 L
3. Dec 31: 5-0 L
4. Jan 2: 5-0 L
5. Jan 7: 4-1 L
6. Jan 23: 5-0 L
7. Feb 17: 1-0 L
8. Feb 20: 3-2 L
9: Mar 13: 1-0 L
10: Mar 18: 3-1 L
11. Mar 31: 3-2 L
12. Apr 2: 3-0 L

2018-19 (0-8-0, 2 shutouts)
1. Oct 20: 3-0 L
2. Nov 11: 4-1 L
3. Dec 18: 4-1 L
4. Jan 5: 4-0 L
5. Jan 19: 5-2 L
6. Mar 19: 7-2 L
7. Mar 30: 5-1 L
8. Apr 2: 6-2 L

2019-20 (0-5-2, 4 shutouts)
1. Oct 20: 1-0 OTL
2. Oct 22: 3-0 L
3. Nov 27: 4-1 L
4. Dec 8: 3-2 OTL
5. Dec 20: 5-2 L
6. Feb 4: 3-0 L
7. Feb 26: 3-0 L

Total: 0-25-2, 14 shutouts

Essentially, if McDavid or Draisaitl doesn’t get a point, there’s a 50% chance the team is getting shutout and a 99.9% chance they’re losing. Even in the 13 losses they weren’t shutout in, they scored only 1 goal 6 times, 2 goals the other 7 and never more than 2. Really just a bad look.

When I found out that Philly/Wash 2 games got cancelled, I kind of freaked as my immediate thought was that it could have been tied in to our Rangers.
Philly's next scheduled game is vs Rangers and probably will be played.

We have been very fortunate thus far, only 1 game being cancelled/rescheduled. Many teams are going to have a very rough schedule at times. But, thats obvious.

DeAngelo with Crosby -Malkin-Letang......I'd sooner let him sit in limbo unless we can get a real nugget like PO Olivier ...dream dream I know.

no kidding. Who wants to relive a whiny, complaining Pitt team who is struggling only to flood the net with 7 goals with that annoying home horn blaring?

let ADA sit

Entertaining Ducks and Vegas game last night. Ducks offense finally comes alive only to give up a late goal to seal their fate. Ducks have always struggled with Vegas especially playing in Vegas and by tomorrow will have played them 4 times in Vegas in 15 games to start the season. I hate these divisions. lol.

5-6-3 really not terrible considering how bad their offense has been and their matchups . Need Zegras up soon. lol. @Boris Zubov , Can ya go easy on Anaheim tomorrow? lol.

On the bright side, the Ducks had a strong rally in the 3rd & even scored a power play goal. Not sure if that gives them confidence going into tomorrow night.

I've noticed a bad trend over the past 2+ seasons with Vegas. They take periods off, play down to the level of their opponent, & then turn it on when they decide to play hard again. Sometimes it works out, other times the rally just falls short. Not sure if that's coaching or the cumulative effect of almost every guy on the team having a healthy long term contract. It was really bad during the beginning of last season, which is why Gallant got canned, but has only slightly improved with DeBoer.

What all of that means for the Ducks chances tomorrow....:dunno:

Looks like the Ducks and Vegas game is on tomorrow night. I mean Nosek was on the bench for like 2 periods next to teammates, If that is not being exposed not sure what is. Anaheim should not have to put their players at risk tomorrow.

NHL should postpone this game. Ducks don’t play again till Monday, gives them a few days to get tested and make sure everyone is In the clear.
