He showed promise early in his career but I think ever since he had that gaff against Montreal overtime playoffs his confidence has been shot to the point he’s really just an ok depth guy to have around as call up for a string of games.

Well, at least Provorov/Frost/Farabee are all still valuable players to their respective NHL teams, unlike Dermott, or Bracco (who's currently playing in Slovakia).

But sure, you are right that it happens through all fan bases. I just remember that this over-hyping was so evident back then in these particular cases, when they were so often brought up in the same sentences as Sanheim/Konecny.

Loved him on Arizona but that was mostly for off-ice reasons. He couldn’t quite stick in our lineup, and there was a good reason for that. I still think he can be an NHLer somewhere in the league though.
