Isn’t a spear typically a 5 minute major? I recall in the 2012 playoffs Kovalchuk did that to one of the Rangers and don’t know if he even got called for it.
i don't know if there is an official ruling on this type of infraction but isn't it technically a slash? It's just an upward chop in a certain part of the body. And he uses the shaft, not the tip.

Any forceful chop with the stick on an opponent's body or opponent's stick, on or near the opponent's hands, shall be considered slashing.

Spearing is the act of poking, stabbing, or attempting to poke or stab an opponent with the tip of the blade of the stick while holding the stick with one or both hands.

Didn’t he lose it with a reporter recently, too?
Or maybe it’s just an act?
"lose it" isn't really what I'd use to describe the interaction he had. Voracek's reaction to the reporter was perfectly fine considering the reporter does hit jobs. I am all for players hitting back at the reporters who slander them.

Now...you want a player to "lose it" on a reporter, then let's turn to The Absolute Legend Dan Boyle...

Blackhawks are the GOAT at salary cap circumvention

I hope we learn from their greatness in this department and do the same with Eichel, Kakko, Fox, and Laf :sarcasm:

That is insane, wonder if any Rangers read these boards.

A long time ago someone had a picture of Dubinsky with a laptop that was opened to HFBoards. Might have been a photoshop, but it definitely happens where players and people within the league read these boards.

Double hip surgery for Seabrook. This one is legit.

Anyone see the video of that maniac Sean Avery cackling in front of, and punching a guys car in LA?

We could have been trading him as part of the package to Eichel right now...

It sounds like they have a history.

I do get a chuckle out of Buffalo’s GM saying he has no appetite to “rebuild” as he’s probably preparing internally with his team to sell players off like hot cakes the next 6 months

Would you guys do Kravtsov, Lundkvist and Chytil for Eichel? No idea how we're going to fit him under the cap but players like him don't get traded very often. Only lose one roster player for a top 5 center
