Perhaps @SA16 was referring to some trajectory analysis that showed that 9 times out of 10 Wilson’s idiot elbow wouldn’t have crushed Carlo’s head into the glass. I think the correct analysis here would be to simply watch what happened in this part of the multiverse.

The hit driving his head into the glass is not the same thing as hitting him in the head. I don’t think it was even worth a penalty and in this case I had significant money wagered on the Bruins last night so I should have been biased to think otherwise.

I’m clearly not the only one thinking this way. You have your usual Twitter and HF outrage because it’s Tom wilson but you also have Frank seravelli, Greg Wyshnyski, and whoever was on NHLN (can’t remember his name) saying basically the same thing.

I’m a fairly contrarian person when it comes to many things. Some people take the contrarian thing too far though. I don’t care that some small contingent of people are doing mental gymnastics to absolve this guy of responsibility for his actions.

There is no need to look at this closer. Tom Wilson is a thug with a history of hurting people. That’s really all there is to know. If that makes me a typical Twitter outrage guy then so be it.

I think if anyone’s argument about this play has anything to do with “it’s Tom Wilson” it’s a bad argument. Judge the play as it is rather than making up your mind because it ended with a bad result from a player with a history.

On the Eichel front--I read an article yesterday that suggested the Kings and the Rangers are the two teams that have the young assets that the Sabres would want to move Jack. The writer suggested this from the Rangers---K'Andre Miller, Filip Chytil, Ryan Strome--a 1st and a 3rd.

Miller would be the one that would hurt the most. Strome is to somewhat offset the cap for a year--the 1st and the 3rd if it's 2021 picks would not be as bad as losing the 2022 1st. Eichel might solve our center problem especially if Mika got it back together. His cap hit though would no doubt create some cap issues down the line and at least the next two years there is a flat cap ceiling and it's possible that could go into a third or fourth season. On the surface I think it's a good deal--Miller really hurts but we have Robertson, Reunanen and Jones who are all excellent LD prospects. Chytil hurts too but he still has to take the next step and how long that's going to take is a question. The 2021 draft doesn't look to be particularly a strong draft.

Eichel with Panarin or Mika with Panarin would be deadly if they got the chemistry going.

I'm no fan of either team. They can beat each other down into oblivion if they choose. I have no skin in their game. It sure looked like targeting the head to me. Is that okay now?

Completely disagree. There’s a reason why personal history is a component of judgments, even in the real world. This guy gets zero benefit of the doubt.

Brandon Carlo is 6’5” tall. There’s nothing to discuss here.

Seems pretty clear to me that Wilson purposefully misses Carlo's body. Maybe he kept his arms down, hits him with the shoulder, and stays on his feet as "clean" might be defined in a textbook sense. Nevertheless, he goes into the boards full speed deliberately targeting Carlo's head.

That's just my opinion and it's based off of the fact that Wilson does this frequently

I believe that an in person hearing means that they are looking at 5+ game suspension...doesn't necessarily mean he'll get that many but if its on the table it needs to be an in person hearing.

Miller is untouchable and Filip is not far behind. Unless its 75 cents on the dollar lets keep looking for our center. Really need an ace by 2023..we still can do our due diligence.

Granted the sabres are horrendous, but are the isles going to win the cup? Seriously, who’s better than them?

Toronto, Tampa, Boston, Washington, Colorado, Vegas, St. Louis, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Carolina?
head to head I would take the Isles over every team there except Tampa, Vegas, and St. Louis. And maybe Boston. Washington ain't shit. They've got 1st round exit written all over them.

Not a well thought through package given the Rangers are weak at C and weaker on LD compared to RD.

Strome and Buchnevich (and ADA) to make cap work. Lundkvist in addition to 1st. Maybe Hajek or Howden instead of ADA.
