Given the circumstances and pressure PLD put on Kekäläinen, what a trade by him.

Rangers were not interested in coming close to what Winnipeg was willing to offer. The Rangers put 4 players out of bounds and didn’t budge on them.

Having said that, I honestly don’t think this is a great deal for either team. I think this is an attempt at a job-saving deal for both GMs.

NBCSN is about to be no more. I would think Fox and ESPN are high on the list of the NHL to get a deal with. Maybe they can land deals with both like the NBA has.

Cord cutters. It finally catches up, and there's not much of a way out. Great thing about digital is that you can sub-segment your ads to customize it to the viewer. More ad $$, newer markets, products to advertise, etc. It doesn't change much for the talent.

You have enough games where you can get on different channels. Candidly it's something that disrupts studio broadcasting, but not really something that shakes up an industry, if anything you end up expanding your reach.

I dont like this trade for CBJ. They needed Dubois more than they needed Laine who now is a very weird fit with CBJ with no center.

I'd be shocked if he is in even still with them by the next time we play them.

They are not the same Blue Jackets that were extremely tough to play against just a few seasons ago.

They’re still way tougher to play against than Winnipeg.

Winnipeg has to find a #1 defenseman like NOW.

Wasn’t Chevy known as a really stingy GM not long ago? Seems like he’s done nothing but overpay recently.

Winnipeg just fixed their center depth and now has one of the best in the league. PLD is only signed for 2 years tho that’s dangerous when you’re Winnipeg

Am I the only one who thinks Laine is such an overrated one trick pony?

I'm with you, pretty much the exact opposite of the identity CBJ has established the last few years.

I'd prefer the center depth Winnipeg now has considering they have spent the last few trade deadlines trading away 1st rounders trying to fill that hole.

I'd put money on Dubois being a more successful player for Winnipeg than Laine in CBJ.

I really don't get this from a Columbus perspective because Torts is only going to get angrier.

He wanted PLD to play more defense and he's getting a guy who hasn't crossed the red line in his career.

They should have done whatever it took to mend the relationship with Dubois. Fire Torts, move the team to Quebec City, at the very least give him more than the paltry $5 million contract they cornered him into signing.. I mean BRADY SKJEI even got more money on his contract, and Strome only got $500k less on his. Pandemic or not. Incredible lack of thinking big picture.

Columbus can still trade Laine for a nice haul at the deadline. Columbus is just generally f***ed it seems, because no star player wants to stay there.
