This happens every season for Aussie Rules football. There's a minimum break time between your last game and the starting training camp, so a team that gets bounced in week 2 of the finals starts their pre-season 2 weeks later than a team that doesn't make the finals.
Of course, their organised pre-season/training camp is a lot longer than an NHL one so it's probably needed more

That is why I wanted to at least win a few more games. This type of play is super valuable for young guys. Guys like Kotkaniemi and Suzuki standing up to guys like Letang and Malkin.

You mean in terms of development? Well if that is the case we need to make changes fast.
But honestly not sure if its all about the coach in this case. Kotkaniemi had a rough year and was demoted. He's definitely matured in this play in round.

Good point. I will take my chances and still root for Montreal/Arizona/Chicago/Minn to boost up into Quinn/Rossi range.

I mean in general. Quinn is a college coach. Julien has won a cup. They are on different levels.

Seeing all these lesser teams and underdogs put up a great game and battle through adversity and win games, it's an indictment against the horse shit performance our team put up. NHL playoff adjustment and chessery is over and beyond what Quinn is capable of now. Not sure if we want to sink 2 more playoff runs to nurture and teach Quinn the ropes of NHL playoff hockey.
