Watching the Avalanche/Flames game. MacKinnon is really helping Burakovsky reach his potential after quite a few years of underachieving with the Caps. If you get a chance, check out both of Burakovsky's goals tonight...pure filthy snipes.

Just wait till Colorado gets Rantanen and Landeskog back. Their PP is going to be impossible to stop...MacK, Rantanen, Landeskog, Makar and Kadri....best in the league and not even close.

They are going to tear up the West and as I thought before the year once those two come back as this was the team I had pegged to make it to the Cup finals so long as Grubauer panned out. Well he has despite a short IR stint. He's back tho and looks great tonight.

Colorado-Boston was my Cup prediction before the year and nothing I've seen thus far has changed that tho I must admit the Islanders are starting to get me nervous about my East prediction.

Something about Barry Trotz coached teams that worry me for some reason...hmmm...lol

I think Burakovsky was one of those dudes that always had the talent but just had a limited role on a good team and just needed the minutes

Nah, Caps gave him plenty of mins and tried him up & down the roster. A bit of a headcase which led to him being streaky. He was seeing a psychologist while in DC so maybe the new one in Denver is better? Of course, being on the same line with Mac helps. Everyone is trying to cover him and leaving Burky open. haha

That might help a little ;)

Land of no calls..
Sometimes it's really just as simple as not being a fit with a team. You spend too much time struggling with the same team and eventually that mountain seems impossible to climb. Plus there's always pressure from within the organization to live up to whatever they had invested in you (high draft pick, major signing, etc).

There are always going to be misses with reclamation projects, but sometimes you can find a gem. Rangers have had luck with Zibanejad and Strome from the same draft class. They seem to have been collecting guys from 2016 in trades, and we've heard them connected to Puljujarvi and Gauthier from that class as well.

they won’t win more than a round.
Agreed.

Call it sour grapes, but I just don't see the high end talent necessary to push through in the playoffs. If they signed Panarin this would be a whole different story.

Lou Lams got lucky that Brassard has found his game again, but he has not done a good job with that roster at all. He gets way more praise than he deserves

Now, Suburban Phoenix. Then, Long Island
One thing that caught my attention in Friedman’s 31 Thoughts was the potential availability of Mark Jankowski. It looks like he is having an awful start to the season. I always thought he was a pretty good bottom six center. Big guy, good penalty killer and some offensive chops. If the price is low enough, he might be a guy worth looking into.

I would consider him. big guy that is good along the boards? he was drafted as a center but at the NHL level is he a winger or a center, I can't recall if he plays both at the NHL level. I would consider him if the price is right. I would offer Nieves and a 3rd to see if they bite
