Islanders as I suspected during the offseason when I was mulling over their moves simply don't impress me. I still can't believe they had 100 points last year or close to it.

With Pens struggling with injuries and shit other than the Caps and Canes, who is better than us in the Metro? Maybe the Flyers are but I still want to see them a bit more and see if Carter Hart is the real deal. If he is they might be the 3rd Metro team to make the playoffs. Devils will likely get better but don't see them better than us.

If you give the Bruins, Leafs and Lightning, Caps and Canes pretty much locks to make the playoffs, the final 3 spots are totally up for grabs.

The way I look at it, the Flyers, Florida probably, Pens I guess when they get healthy and maybe the Canadians IMO will be our main competition for a playoff spot when all is said and done. Yes it's very very early but from my observations thus far, I do believe there is a lane for us to make it into the dance come April.

Justin Faulk getting dealt to the Blues was the best thing that ever happened to Dougie Hamilton as for first time just like our Trouba, he truly is the #1 guy and he is embracing it bigtime.

I could easily see him scoring close to 60 points and being in the conversation for the Norriss. He's always had the talent but now he has the opportunity and he's taking off. I'm mucho glad I have him on one of my two $$ fantasy teams as he's been a treat to watch thus far.

Still not sure if we are playoff material. We will need a much bigger sample to judge if we belong. Plus we are not deep enough to win a majority of games this season. Hell we have a D-man playing the wing! And have a major shortage up the middle. Right now is like the honeymoon. We will come back to reality soon. We are too young, and too short in key areas. It's a long season, and that effects the youngsters most.

Your probably right and that we are a year away but my point I'm trying to make is that despite the warts we have, these other teams that we are competing with for a playoff spot, have some pretty glaring warts as well. Which to me means that we might be in the playoff mix not so much because we are that good but rather because these other teams just aren't that much better than us.

We'll see how it plays out but I do think we will be in the playoff conversation come late March early April.

Hoffman with a nasty ass snipe with 10 seconds left to send that game into OT which works for me as I love me some 3 on 3 hockey.
I never liked the idea of 3 on 3. And now after watching it a while, it's still not hockey to me. 4 on 4 at the minimum is best. We already have a shootout, so WTH.

Hey, you never know. If we somehow get a 2c to fill the void, that could go a long way between a winning and losing season with that one addition. There's no way we can get a bonafide center if we offer Kreider and maybe a prospect?

Ya you knew that was going in as he got the puck on his stick. Wicked shot.

Very good game. Had a feeling the Panthers would get it to OT. Very un Sabres like of the Sabres to be resilient and win though. Tbh I thought they utterly dominated the game. Bobrovsky kept it close.

I'm telling your bro..this isn't your grandfathers Sabres this year. They are pretty dang good and like I said earlier...they will not be an easy mark at all for us or anyone.

They have some upper tier talent they've accumulated from all those years of suckage and it's finally coming together. Eichel looks like he's ready this year to join the elite. I mean he's damn good now but he's ready to join the level just under the Kucherov's, MacKinnon's, McDavid, Kane, Crosby area and join the Pastrnak, Matthews,Draisitle territory.

If Eichel keeps playing like he has the last few games I’d say he’s in that MacKinnon tier. He has all the tools, he just needs a little more consistency in his game. I think that’s starting to come.

Okposo had a very nice game tonight. That’s another big difference, their depth can actually contribute. That Larsson/Girgensons/Okposo line was definitely their best line in the game.

I liked Eichel over McDavid when they were one two in the draft. Good to see him come into his own. He had a pretty good year last season. Probably has a better support group now too.

What was that in Carolina after the game? Why don't they all just do the Ickey shuffle? LOL

Rangers and Flyers fans watching all the other Metro teams crash and burn while they play no games

Not sure I'd put him in that MacKinnon tier just yet. If you are in a solid fantasy league with savvy owners, IMO as I am, it's a great way to gauge where a players stands in the hierarchy. Was just looking back at one of the two fantasy drafts I do every year...this one that I'm looking at was a snake draft, my other one is an auction. Eichel was drafted at 3.7 of the 3rd round right around the area where the Malkins, Gaudreaus, Marners, Hall's and the guy I picked Draisaitl's went.

I think that's just about right and where he stands in the heiracrchy of NHL fowards.

Just as and fyi and so you know this is a very competitive league with alot of savvy owners and we all know our shit, the forwards taken ahead of Eichel were as follows:

1st rounders were in order McDavid, Kucherov, MacKinnon, Ovechkin, Marchand, Crosby, Stamkos, Kane and Seguin.
2nd rounders were in order Pastrnak, Panarin, Matthews, Tavares, Barkov
3rd round went like this in order Wheeler, Gaudreau, Marner, my guy Draisaitl, Malkin and than Eichel was picked.

So 19 forwards were taken ahead of Eichel. Me personally of those 19 picked ahead of him, from what I've seen so far this year of Eichel and the rest of those players that's about right as the only guy I'd probably move Eichel ahead of would be Malkin and that's about it.

So I guess what I'm saying is Eichel as great as he is, IMO is not in the elite class of the MacKinnon's, Kucherov's McDavid's just yet but possibly in another year or two, he could move into that neighborhood as he certainly has the skill set to do so.

We shalt see and it will be fascinating to watch his development over the next few seasons as he's a very easy guy to root for.

Hopefully our boy Kakko can ultimately get to the Eichel level which I'm sure all of us Ranger fans would be thrilled with if he got to that level.

I’m a huge Svechnikov fan too. Kid is going to be a monster sooner rather than later

8 points in 5 games so far. And his game is so well rounded. Love the kid. He was #2 overall last year and had 20g 37pts. Which a lot of people seem to feel would be disappointing for Kakko, but Svech is obviously going to be a beast. I’d kill to draft a kid whose going to shoot the puck like Svechnikov.
