Well, he's not brutal.

Last season was a bit crazy and unexpected. He's not ever going to approach 1ppg again. But that said, he's a pretty competent middle-6 NHL winger. If the Preds are getting something better than a 3rd round pick for him, however... I'll be satisfied.

Really glad that Trotz sees the value in trading him as a rental vs. extending him... I honestly expected him to just extend Nyquist.

I don't want Nyquist back in Nashville, but I would simply pass at a 4th or below. It's just too insulting and those picks are worthless. Somebody should offer at least a 2nd for Nyquist. If it's a 3rd, eh, ok... but that's Trotz doing the player a favor. Below that, forget about it.

Maybe if Berggren was going the other way. Berggren is younger and having the same type of season so doesnt make a lot of sense unless its part of a bigger deal for the Wings.

I'm betting he is either depth on a contender or a team that's in the mix gets him as a small add as a reward for their guys. Someone like Columbus or Ottawa who can't justify a big add but want to do something.

It’s the opposite. He was drafted fourth round (#121 overall), has played 841 games and produced 524 points (best of fourth rounders and 10th best of that draft class overall). He is very far from bust.
