Sprong is an interesting case for a couple of reasons --- warts and all, there has been some very good production down in the Q and the AHL as well. He's also a kid who put up 14 goals in 47 games after his trade to Anaheim last year.

But there's also a draw for this board because that was one of the guys a lot of people wanted in the second round, back in 2015. So there's that high school crush aspect floating around.

The ironic thing is that while most people weren't thrilled with Gropp, and yearned for Sprong, it's a guy like Dunn that would be great to have right about now. But not many people were dedicated volumes of posts to him back from 2015 to 2017.

It just goes to show you that despite some of the passionate conversations we have around here, it's very often the guy that no one talked about that would've been the best outcome.

I don’t think people fully grasped how unique of a combination he is.

He’s not going to be the highest scoring kid from that draft class, but I remember thinking that if he put the pieces in the right order he was going to be a very valuable player. And he certainly is.

Duclair looks dangerous out there

It’s almost easy to forget how unbelievably skilled Duclair is. This was a kid who, at one time, was seen as a potential top pick in the 2013 draft.

The problem has been putting those pieces together consistently and translating them as the competition increased and better players adjusted to his tactics.

But when he’s on, the skill level is immediately evident.
