Typical NHL: You get 41 games for gambling on non NHL games.

You maybe get a 2 minute penalty for taking someone's head off in a game.

Shane Pinto deserves the 41 game suspension; my point is the NHL needs to address on ice incidents similarly.
No, it was NHL related.

I don’t understand why it’s an issue unless he was betting on his own games. How does Shane Pinto influence a Stars/Kings game? Maybe I’m missing something?

These over the top suspensions in all the sports leagues over gambling are just to distract from the fact that officiating is so bad, and thats the actual problem with competitive integrity.

The Athletic article specifically states it was NOT NHL related. I'm so confused.
No, it didn't. It was stated Pinto didn't place any bets on NHL games. That doesn't exclude other bets, or leaking inside information to a 3rd part which seems like the most likely cause at the moment.

What a dumb comment. If it was a Bud Light ad, does that mean it would be ok for a player to play intoxicated?

Players are still allowed to bet, but there are parameters.

So you believe the league is implying he was involved in fixing games or passing along info about injuries etc to others which gave them a competitive edge? NHL policy specifically states betting on other sports is allowed under the CBA.

That's what Frank Seravalli is alluding to:
Sources told Daily Faceoff that the league’s investigation centered around a sweep of gambling partners that revealed a Pinto connection to a third-party bettor.
Though if it was actually "fixing games", I think the punishment would be much higher. But maybe some insider info?

Is Boston for real? I have never seen such as easy schedule to start a season. Hawks and Ducks twice each, Sharks, Preds and their only decent opponent the Kings. Thats six games that are probably against bottom 5 teams in the league.

If I were pinto I'd go to the NHLPA and check myself into gambling addiction treatment. Stick it to the league, change the narrative, and free therapy.

I think the issue is normally that players/coaches/front office staff have access to 'inside' info from around the league that allows they or others to place 'exotic' bets with a high degree of certainty.
If Pinto knows some guys on another team and they tell him they are going to try X in the next game, or player Y will play a certain role, Pinto can share that info.
So the easiest way to avoid it is no betting on the sport you are involved in.

Right, so many comments here and on reddit about the "hypocrisy" of punshing a player that gambles while his team is sponsored by bet365. The integrity of the game is way more important than that narrative and gambling is a big no-no it's like insider trading or worse if players are throwing games for gambling payouts.

Gudas goal, assisted by Strome.

A scoring play from the depths of hell.

@Leonardo87 higher than a kite

It's a countdown of time left in the intermission?

What a Ducks game. Down 3-1, came back to beat the undefeated Boston. Strome 2 points. Lol. Leo Carlsson going to be good, Goal and assist, and set up OT winner for McTavish…

They're still a playoff team unless Marchand, Pasta, and McAvoy all miss long periods of time. They're still a team that has good depth and high end talent even if center depth is slim. Tortorella's Rangers made the playoffs one year with Erik Christansen as the 1st line center.
