Kids past 12 months have been brutal. Feel for him, but as one of the resident Krav stans I gotta admit I was super wrong about him.

Not really a fan of Biss but kinda figured where there's smoke there's fire. With everything that's come out, this dude has such a dogshit track record now that it was hard to fully believe that PR piece. He's one of those primitive old-world type of people that'll just fade into obscurity. If he doesn't do a complete 180 I can't see many players responding well to him in today's day and age.

Babcock is definitely a knuckle-dragger, but kids today are way too f***ing sensitive. This is the NHL, grow a f***ing pair...we're a week into camp for god's sake.

Younger players sometimes tend to do stupid things with their phones. Why else would they be uncomfortable about this unless they have something to hide.

Kids are allowed to do dumb, young dude shit. As long as it's nothing illegal and they're bringing it at camp/practice/in-game, who really cares?

Biz is a moron but he has no reason to make this up. I'll almost always believe the player/former player vs the media members as players 10000% let other players know whats up where as media people are just going to be fed what ever an organization wants to give them. I've seen it turn some really, really good reporters into basically PR machines for their teams (Andy Strickland being one who has gone down that route and it saddens me, he used to be great and is now basically a Blues cheerleader.)

Babcock is either the most unself aware person ever or a bigger moron than Biz could ever be, probably both. I don't even think this incident in and of itself is THAT big a deal but with all the baggage he was bringing in like.... how do you NOT stop to think that this may rub some people the wrong way?

Kids are too sensitive, no argument there but a coach putting kids like Sillinger and Fantilli into that kind of position where they are too young to really stand up for themselves and feel pressured cause they wanna make the team is a big no no. Think that’s where they will draw a line. Also literally every guy I know has sexy pics of their significant others on their phone. Guess it depends on how Babs went about it, but I wouldn’t want anyone looking at my phones pics.

Here
I'm sure if Babs had a book of old polaroids and dusty photos from the early 80's he wouldn't want to bare it all to the world.

For me it really depends on how this whole thing was communicated to the team. If everyone had ample opportunity to present a few shots to the group and had the option to do so or not, then I think its fine.

However, it seems like players were put on the spot and just thad their phones casted to the monitor for all to see, with no prior knowledge. If they had to flip through shit to get to a photo they wanted to share, i mean come on. Thats not right. That seems to me like a very Babs/old school thing to do. Not to mention there are HIPAA and other rights that could be infringed during a spontaneous casting of one's phone.

And even if you had time to select some photos up front, you dont want your phone being casted to a monitor for all to see anyway. If you forgot to turn off notifications you could get a text message at any moment that reads:

"Hey babe, I'm headed down to the romantic depot to grab that dildo you had your eye on"...

Sensitive or not, thats just not cool and out of touch with reality no matter what decade it is.

it's an unambiguous invasion of privacy that no one has the right to do. would you be ok with your boss going through your phone?
I just glanced over a headline & the statement they released...I was unaware he physically took their phones without permission & put it on airplay. That's bullshit if true & totally not cool. But I'm wondering how he would unlock their phones if they didn't consent?

I'll bet Babcock, being old school, never used to do personal bonding with players, as he thought it was unnecessary. So, he tries to get in touch with the times and tries a little off-rink relationship-building but does it in the most tone-deaf/tech-deaf way imaginable.

I think it's pretty obviously a way for him to rip on guys for conditioning during camp by insinuating they cam in unprepared.

I also don't think its a big deal in and of itself but he's a special asshole so he gets special treatment.

Would you feel comfortable not consenting to your notorious monster of a new boss demanding to go through your personal device? also most phones can unlock with just your face now, Babs didn't even need a passcode. I'm not trying to be combative, just think this is a very not-ok situation if it turns out to be 100% accurate.

John Davidson has been a team president for what, 20 years? And he has 1 playoffs series win in that time?

I think its 2. St Louis won a series in 11-12 before getting bounced by LA. JD was there until October of 2012 (half season lockout.)

JD then went to CBJ where they pulled the upset of all upsets in 2019 and then he left for the NYR job shortly there after.

One of those hires I was very happy with when it was made but in total retrospect, wish he never got the NYR job. Not only was he a cluster f*** in his role, I feel like its left a bit of a mark on his legacy here.

Really good Jack Hughes interview on 32 thoughts podcast this morning. Kid claims to remember every point he scored last season and talks about how he has his book on almost all goalies, specifically in the Metro. Says some nice things about Igor and talks about the playoff series some. Likable kid, hearing him talk about Hockey it’s easy to see what it takes to get to that next level.

Think Laf said the same thing about remembering every point he scored last season as well.
Although would've been a lot easier for him to remember them all...
