They have won with that core( Malkin, Letang, and Crosby) multiple times. Nothing more to lose, It's like one last ride or two going into the sunset. I think they know this is it for awhile.

But with that said, once that trio is gone, Pittsburgh will be in for some painful seasons, and with such a poor prospect pool will take them even longer since they have to recoup those assets. This is why I hate trading 1st round picks.

It's also very frustrating that they win the lottery multiple times, get players like Crosby and Malkin, win multiple cups, and here we are with F'ing Laffy Taffy. lol.

if a player is uncomfortable with you on the ice it will probably manifest in more turnovers, which would probably reflect in their stats.

That Shoulder Check Showcase is a great thing.

In the Hockey world, for decades anything mental health related was not discussed and literally repressed by players, almost out of necessity for some to succeed in the game (see Boogaard as one example).

Same could be said for all athletics, so events like this are important to break the longstanding cultures.
 
I can buy the idea that physical defensemen can make people uncomfortable.

Forwards don't want to go anywhere near Radko Gudas and his elbows.

The stats show that forwards are very f***ing comfortable when Trouba is on the ice.

It does show up in the stats, you just have to make the connection.

I love the fact that Gudas turned down several Canadian teams and chose Anaheim. Some people say it's a bad contract. But the Ducks needed a guy to strike some fear into the opponents, help clear the crease and bring physicality.

He has not come close to an NHL goalie with any speed since the Price incident . He would be twice the overall player if he did and the Rangers that much better for it . Imagine having that kind of leg drive /speed with puck in tow to the net with him and Gauthier going full bore and either Mika or Chytil in the middle . That would have been a hard line to neutralize without the opposition taking a penalty to hold one of them up.......what could have been !
