Both drafted in 2019, both have a career pace of 34 points per 82 games. I don’t see any reason Laf should be given above 3M unless he’s taking a longer term deal that is a gamble on his end as well.

Meanwhile, financially I’m still f***ed because I now have to figure out how to scrap together enough for a deposit and a first month, but I accepted a job that is a $12k salary increase in TX where no state income tax makes it more like a $16k raise, plus a lower cost of living could make it feel like even more of a bump. Supposed to start first week of October which means I have to figure out some money for the next 8+ weeks. But ultimately a positive.
Coming in late on this but what about Instacart/Uber? You can work as much or as little as you'd like with no long term commitment before you move.

I’ve done a ton of positive things to improve my position for when this move happens, including negotiating a settlement on a debt and spacing it out over 24 monthly interest free payments and swapping my vehicle for something about $110 cheaper monthly and $40 cheaper to insure, but I still have to float us through 8 weeks and have first month plus deposit ready in October. For every win it feels like there’s still a mountain to climb. I’m drinking one of those plastic handles of Jim Beam and off brand white claw with the wife tonight because I can’t splurge on a respectable beverage. Whoa is me, indeed. Go fund Loki? $10 per poster whose ever given me a like? Eh? Eh?

What's the point of an arbitrator if they always take the average. Samsonov should have asked for 6 might have gotten 4.

NHL salary arbiter is possibly the best job imaginable. Listen to 2 presentations, split the difference, repeat.

I really wish the CBA only allowed the result of arbitration to be the players request OR the team's offer. It would make the entire process so interesting to see how both sides crafted their case and strategy.

That’ll really show him.

Hasn’t stopped Torts from getting work. Why should it stop Anthony?
Sure but torts has had actual professional success.
He’s taken non traditional hockey markets to the playoffs in multiple decades, he’s won a Stanley cup and while he’s got a shelf life as a coach he can point to the cbj playoff series, and say I can take a team of underdogs and beat a favorite.
And yes that cbj team was the underdog.

Torts gets along with at least half his players. Ada has his bad kids table and that’s it.

I’m sure Anthony had some big achievements 20 years ago too.

If only half your team respects you then you, my friend, are a failed coach.

Torts gets his wins but can’t go the distance. Just about any coach in the league is capable of that. It isn’t as noteworthy as you assume.

I mean look at that CBJ team.
They werent exactly prepared to go toe to toe with the lightning that year.

They had Seth Jones, Panarin, a young PLD, bob, and a young PLD. VS the absolutely loaded TBL.
Point/stamkos/Kucherov/MCD/Sergachev etc.

That was a massive upset, and more important Tort's hasn't had a roster that talented in a long time. He does a lot with a little, thats always going to get you a head coaching job somewhere.
