Can someone explain to me how the Rangers are 10-0-1 in their last 11 games having only played 15 games and have a worse record than the Bruins after the Bruins lost two of their best players to retirement this year?
hmmm. Great coach. Terrific goaltending. Very very structured. Know how to win close games. Still have guys like Marchand and Pasta who are lead by example. Somewhat similar to how we have won some of our games.
But you're right I thought losing Bergeron and Krejci would see them lose a few more games than they have but not surprised they are a lock for the playoffs.

I said it the day we gave him away for nothing, that entire trade was a fire-able offense. I wish we could fire Gorton again.

Do you remember the apocolyptic posts about how Dolan is going to sink this franchise with his meddling? Drury had his own "fireable offense" trade with Buchnevich. But that one at least seemed more about giving the young guys an opportunity and the cap. Miller was just a throw in in a McDonagh trade that sucked balls to begin with.

I said it in the preseason and was mocked. It comes down entirely to culture.

That roster last year had no business having the record it did. This year it’s even more apparent.

It was very obvious they wouldn’t skip a beat with Marchand as captain. He learned from Bergeron, who learned from Chara, etc. Each and every player is clearly bought in to a level you don’t see on other teams. I’m sure they’re practicing and working out together most of the summer.

Pastrnak, McAvoy, etc are great players. But it’s really a pretty mediocre line up all things considered. Last year it was hardly gamebreaking on paper either. A testament to good leadership, teamwork and work ethic.

Yeah, I'd say they don't compare to that 2018-19 (?) Lightning team talent-wise much less that 95-96 Red Wings team. I think culture is why the Devils with all their talent after a great year last year are struggling to find their way.

That said I still remember beating the Bruins on Black Friday in 2021 two seasons ago and their fans were killing the team.

more perplexed by how we are 12-2-1 and only have 5 more points than a caps team that we all thought was just gonna chase a record for ovie. on the other hand, absolutely hilarious to see them above both carolina and jersey atm

5 points this early on in the season to be fair is a lot. But I did mention the Caps. I thought they were a shitty team that won a bunch of meaningless games. Too bad, it was a fun narrative that a shitty team beat NJ twice.

kind of hoping they stick around in the playoff race and we match up with them. started watching hockey in 08-09 hating the pens and caps, got the end of an era series with the pens, time for the caps.

I watched their game with jersey and they looked like shit. I think it has more to do with being a very weak conference this year.

What a shitty year to start watching the Rangers. The Rangers must be the most mid playoff team they've had since I started watching in 2000. They shock the world and take a 3-1 series lead against the Caps. Then proceed to shit the bed. Then to top it off the Pens win their first cup being while being a relatively mid team that the Wings choked against.

I do wonder which team would be a bigger favorite, the Rangers against the Caps this year or the Caps against the Rangers in 08-09.

well 07-08 was season i started watching the giants so i really lucked out there and that helped cushion the abysmal start to my rangers fandom. shout out to my dad who got me into sports and also this board, idk if anyone remembers jas since he hasnt posted in a while but im happy with the teams i inherited from him even if the giants have sucked ass for a while now.
