Torts has them playing hard. They don't have much skill, but they compete. Typical Torts team.

That was true last season.

I may be mistaken, but didn't they - again - act like they were on top of the league less than 2 weeks into the season?

And they're one of the teams that lost to the Sharks, and they got blitzkrieged by the Ducks, Kings, and I think Sabres.

Just surprised that such an inconsistent team like them are up so high.

Oh yeah, they're a roller coaster for sure. This league is exactly how Gary & his pals want it. Game Managed.

Caps are smoke and mirrors. They'll fall off the second Lindgren remembers that he isn't that good.

Flyers are low key kind of good and I can't believe that they are with that roster.
Torts is a genius

They don’t have any superstars but they have some good players .

If healthy (they were destroyed by injuries last year) they are an ok team esp with Torts leading them.

Still early but the east has taken a GIANT step back this year. This is great news for the Rangers just as the strength of the east was bad news last year.

The Atlantic is pretty good.

Boston - Florida - Toronto are all good. They've all got some jank ass qualities (so do the Rangers) but they're good.

Whats weird to me is how it seems like 70% of the league is within 2 games of .500.

He never saw Miller as an impact NHLer, I remember vividly arguing with him about two things, Dan Girardi's analytics and Miller. Ironically Silverfish became one of the most pro analytic people on here not long after.
Yeah I remember the original "Advanced Stats" thread that was basically just silverfish's conversion from defending Dan Girardi to arguing that Blake Wheeler was better than peak Toews and a top 5 player in the league. Honestly enjoyed his posts a lot.

Thank god they got rid of their shitty coach after last season's embarrassment.
haha good point. I am sure they will come back down to earth but almost a quarter way into the season they have been a surprise.

Laine a healthy scratch tonght. Yikes.
Since it's Thanksgiving, we should all be thankful for the cap in this instance. Otherwise he'd be oozing early 2000s Sather acquisition.

Truth be told he might look good with Mika and Kreider, but that's a very low percentage chance of success.

Yeah, all kidding aside, it's not unusual to see a team come out playing way better for a new coach. Just having that new voice at the helm seems to help, plus I think players take it to heart for their part in getting a coach fired (and they always play a major part in getting a coach fired). One, players have pride so they show up for the next coach. Two, once a coach is gone, players are the next ones in line of "being the problem".

Ducks got F’d. They had taken over that game, and at worst should be 9-7-1 now. This has really made me doubt the integrity of the league and tarnish the game for me.
It took you this long? Totally agree. Hockey is great. The players are great. The NHL is a chickenshit outfit.
