Crosby will be in Colorado next year

will be interesting to see how his final years play out. he's a guy that's conscientious of his legacy and think it's a big deal to him to play his whole career in one place, so i doubt he's got any interest in leaving. that said, it looks like he may have more in the tank than the rest of the core there, and if pitt is essentially forced to blow it up while he's still a solid producer...he may rethink that and try for a ray bourque walkoff. col makes a lot of sense w/ nate but actually think by the time that day came around it might be mtl that makes the most sense. relatively close to home and timeline wise could be the kind of place where he brings the final piece of a puzzle. not going anywhere at that point to drive the bus, his biggest value would be what he brings in the locker room and on the bench.

He’d have to be the guy that drives the bus in MTL because that guy doesn’t exist anywhere in their organization.

Mercer just pulled a Zibanejad. Had a virtual uncontested 1 on 1 with the goalie and instead tried to pass it through 2 defenders

at least gives us a chance going into saturday with them coming off a big win and feeling good about themselves with all their guys coming back into the lineup.

didn't want to go into that game with them on a whatever game losing streak, at home, with the mental boost of bringing back some key guys with us showing up off a 6 day bender following a stretch of points in 10 straight. not to mention being without fox, chytil - who, while i'm no fan of and think we should move on from, has been one of our more effective players against them due to his ability to take advantage of open ice and their lack of physicality - and possibly igor.

this at least gives us a chance. they're going to be desperate though with the lead we've built. not gonna mean much if we lose, but will say a whole lot about this team if they can match that and pull out a win under the circumstances.

if that were the case he wouldn't go. assuming suzuki/caufield/dach/guhle/reinbacker/hutson etc...not sure what else they have but guessing they have a fairly deep prospect pool that has a chance to be competitive in 2-3 years. if that were the case, was thinking that's a spot that might make more sense timing wise and need wise then col. by that point i'm not sure col isn't an older edm.

It's deep but it lacks top end guys.

Hutson is really interesting as hes going to be a fascinating case study (how small is too small?) and probably has the best chance of that group. Their pool is deep, but it lacks in top guys.

They had their wack at top guys in the last 2 drafts (Cooley and Michkov) and passed on both.

If there is a really good team 2-3 years from now that isn't one now its going to be Anaheim IMO. I dont know if he'd go there but thats a spot where he won't have to drive the bus- Carlsson and McTavish are both already really forwards and tracking to be great (or better) players.

i think caufield can be top end, will have to see what else they have and what it turns into, as well as any additional assets they acquire in the next couple years. a big part of it was also location - i completely agree anaheim has far more near locks as top end players and at the moment, arguably the brightest future in the league. i could be completely wrong but i have a hard time seeing him go all the way out west though esp if there's no connections. no matter what the situation is. just seems like if anything he'd go close to home or team up with nate. have a hard time thinking he'd be willing to consider anywhere he didn't have some personal connection to, if he'd even consider anywhere else at all.

Seattle and Islanders having a mid off in the shootout. The most mid to low fr lineup of talent
I was going to make a joke about the Piles getting at least a point in this game during the 2nd period. What a waste of a prediction or being a psychic.

It amazes me how arrogant the Isles fans were, especially their ring leaders on Twitter were this entire summer. A full year of Horvat and career fourth liner Pierre Engvall and a top-5 d-core. I won't lie, if Lou had gotten a star during the two ECF runs, they probably have one Cup by now. Back then, I was nervous with the Isles. Now, everybody in the league knows how bad their situation is now and will be except Isles fans.

Also, Kraken had not won a SO since April of 2022 before last night.
