No this is all part of the plan for Knoblauch to convince McDavid to sign with us. he'll be back with the Rangers in 2 years as assistant coach and bring McDavid with him. We are playing the long game.

I think Leo Carlsson has been better than Connor Bedard. Verbeek wasn't wrong picking Carlsson over Adam Fantilli. Verbeek felt Carlsson had more upside.



Carlsson is very good.

I thought Carlsson was the #2 pick this year imo.

I thought Knobloch deserved a shot at our job this year but looks like it worked out for everyone, Lav has been great and Knobby gets an underachieving team with two of the best players in the world

Carlsson is very good.

My jaw dropped seeing this guy's combine numbers.

He's a 6'3" 200 lb 18 year old. Just a unit of a player that will likely play at 6'4" or 6'5" and 220-225 lbs.

He literally wasn't looking at the goalie for the steal and shoot goal and his top shelf in close was nasty. There's more hands on that kid than our entire team when it comes to in-close dekes. Zib's backhand? Panarin maybe?

I thought the second goal was still more impressive. He just only needed a half step to get his stick blade into a shooting position and then let’s it go so quickly, so deceptively, but also decisively. He’s basically a smaller Matthews with possibly a better release and possibly slightly less whip on his shot.

I love what the Ducks are doing and like them way better as a team, but it’s a silly take.

Carlsson is having his ice team and games manager and playing with Zegras, McTavish, Terry, Killorn, Vatrano, Strome, Mintyukov, Fowler, etc.

Bedard is being deployed as if he were prime McDavid already and is working with the corpses of Foligno and Perry and Andreas Athenesiou.

I have zero doubt I’m going to be very high on Carlsson, and may even end up having more of a soft spot for him - the way I preferred Peter Forsberg over Jagr and Lemieux - but Bedard at barely 18 years old and way less physically mature is just blatantly on a different level offensively than anyone else close to his age.
