The Red Wings are 2nd in the Atlantic division. Thanksgiving is 12 days away. NHL teams look at American Thanksgiving when looking at their playoff chances. It was 77% of the teams in playoff spots at American Thanksgiving made the playoffs in the cap era a couple of years ago. It's probably in the same range. The league seems watered down. The Rangers have an opportunity if Drury makes the right moves and some of the Rangers players have good playoff performances. Panarin. Zibanejad. The cap has drained teams of their depth and they don't have much space to fix their flaws. Some teams have flawed goalies. Carolina. They can't defend. Toronto has flawed goalies and they can't defend. Colorado was better in their Cup year. No Landeskog. No Kadri. No Burakovsky. No Compher. Tatar and Drouin haven't been good. Johansen was given away at 50% retention.

Last year seemed like the peak of depth in the NHL but to start the year seems like a lot of mid teams out there but also small sample size and injuries.

I wonder if the HF Devils board has posters so quick to make excuses for the Rangers as the Rangers board is for the Devils. No need to answer that I know the answer.

Yeah, let's make excuses for the Devils while ignoring the fact that we're winning with more injuries to our most important players. But you do you. Also, the Devils looked like shit even before the injuries. The Devils sycophants on this board are nausiating. God, I'd rather be around Devils fans than Devils sycophants.

I guarantee you no Devils fan was feeling bad for us or making excuses for us when we lost our Norris winner, our Vezina winner, and our #2 center. We beat a better team with our third stringer goalie than they just beat. But go kiss more Devils ass.

They're going to leapfrog a bunch of teams most likely and put themselves into playoff position but they're old as balls and not very deep. Their goalie also sucks and wears down after 25 games.

They're better than the Islanders. They're better than the Caps. They're better than being 3 games under .500 but they aren't a juggernaut.

I wouldn't want to play them in a playoff series strictly because of how involved the refs/league got the last time it happened. Yeah the Rangers won, but they should have won sooner.

Have you seen the Metro this year, 3rd in the Metro is not a huge accomplishment. Even second in the Metro isn't that great. This is a down year for the division based on early returns. And if that'll change, that'll change but RIGHT NOW their position in the Metro isn't great.
