We should have bit the bullet and traded for Eichel. Does anyone really think we would regret moving Kakko or Chytil (or Lolfraniere) for Jack Eichel? Even with the “NYR tax” Buffalo supposedly was charging? Kid is gonna win the Conn Smythe tonight.

I agree with the 1st half ...we should've sucked it up & paid the piper.

Disagree with the 2nd part...I can't see him winning the Conn Smythe..hasn't scored a goal since round 2.

(was that too angry of a reply?)

Still thing it was the right non move. Dealing for Eichel would've meant bye bye to Zibanejad too for nothing.

Based on a conversation on here last week, my understanding was that it was gong to be 2 of the kids, plus moving Mika out for the required cap space (obviously some assets come back there).

I'm not convinced it makes us much better, it just makes us different to what we are now

Yes, you grumpy bastard. It’s him or Marchessault, but Eichel keeps racking up the points and making things happen. Marchessault probably doesn’t have the totals he has without Eichel… he’s a “play driver”.

I don’t think Mika moving was ever on the table. Two of the kids, no Strome/Trochek, we can afford Eichel. And I’d also be perfectly okay with simply being “different” than we are now, with a 25 year old elite 1C.

His neck was too much of a question mark at the time. Even when he got freight trained by Tkachuk, people thought that was the end of his neck. Miraculously he returned to the game

I had Vegas in the final this year, and looking forward to them winning. But I hate Jack Eichel. Marchessault will probably get the Conn Smythe regardless of who truly deserves it. Stone is a great captain. Vegas has been a good team for years, good on that org.

If you could run Eichel/Mika long term then yeah it was probably a gamble worth doing (I just feel there'd be more cap issues somewhere).

As good as Eichel has been, his current stat line is 22 6-18-24.
Mika is one playoffs removed from 20 10-14-24
