LegendOvechkin is an ageless god of goal scoring. Third hat trick in the past six games, 12 goals over that span. 40 in 53 on the year now to lead the league again.
Have to imagine if Eichel wants out that the Rangers could put together as good an offer as anyone?
Edit: actually probably not if Buffalo wants a 1-for-1.
yeah there are like 5 players as valuable as Eichel in the league and none will be traded. Will have to be a big package. I miss the days of LaFontaine for Turgeon.I don’t foresee any team being able to give them a 1 for 1. I don’t see a similar level player who would be available or who a team would want to move.
I really believe the Rangers would be in a unique position to put together an attractive package AND take on that contract.
The other thing to consider is if he’s requesting a trade out of Buffalo, other small market rebuilding teams who may be able to offer something MAY be scared that they will be in a similar position to Buffalo in the near future AND Eichel’s NMC may have kicked in by then which means his value drops like a rock.
Depending on who were to go the other way, it mightn’t be that hard...Eichel’s salary is one of the larger hurdles to acquiring him
I’m not even sure how the team would make it work to be honest
Wouldn’t be something they could swing until after Hank, Staal and Smith are gone
beast.natural hatty for ovechkin tonight...40 on the year, 698 for his career...has 14 goals in the last 7 games

Considering his excellent durability, him being 34 years young, tho it's going to be tough, he's definitely going to make Gretzky sweat it out.
Looks like he'll need to average around 34 goals per year for the next 7 years to break the record of 894. Can he still score over 30 goals a year when he hits 40 years old? That's what he may need to do unless he can keep scoring 50+ goals a year for the next 3-4 years whereby he'd maybe need to average around 25 goals a year to break the record.
Pretty damn amazing player and it would be fun to see him even get close to breaking the record.
C'mon. That's terrible. They are going to need more established assets than that for Eichel.Chytl, Miller, a 1st, and a 2nd is my opening offer.
The rangers first is likely a top 10 maybe a top 5 pick after all is said and done.C'mon. That's terrible. They are going to need more established assets than that for Eichel.
I'd use Ryan O'Reilly for Tage Thompson, Patrik Berglund, Vladimir Sobotka, 1st, 2nd as a reference point and Eichel is on another level from ROR, especially at that point in ROR's career. He really elevated his game in STL. Maybe this is a good opening offer (sorry, I think the "opening" part is irrelevant) for an average 1C but for a young hot stud center like Eichel? Is Chytil supposed to fill in nicely for Buffalo's center depth? I know we like the kid and he's made some encouraging advancements this season but he's still far from guaranteed top 6 quality. But the ROR pick was 31st OA. Ok, well Matt Duchene 1.0 went for Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond, 2018 conditional 1st round pick (Bowen Byram btw), 2019 3rd round pick. EDIT: forgot Kyle Turris was part of that trade too.The rangers first is likely a top 10 maybe a top 5 pick after all is said and done.
Chytil is a heck of a prospect
Miller is a heck of a prospect.
That's a pretty damn good opening offer.
