Can Jarmo be any more salty?

You rolled the dice on keeping these guys, and it didn’t pay off

Columbus sucks, it is what it is

I mean, they did get their first series win in franchise history. And a sweep over the lame skate regular season record point getting Bolts. So there's that monkey off their back. But their offseason is gonna be interesting. Potentially nightmarish but interesting.

Why do we want JD in 2019?

Is this the new "yo Messier should be GM".
Unlike Messier, JD has tons of experience in the President role in STL and CLB so it isn't the same thing. After that, his experience working with Dolan is going to be worth something. And finally, please present a list of viable alternatives rather than just bagging (or otherwise be a general naysayer) on JD.

Ok if JD didn't scream Oh Baby on MSG, and he's still a slam dunk to the plebs?

i say naaaa... n8

Maybe another Shark will give EK a going over in public for losing the puck and falling down for that beauty goal by the Avs.
Nice job Avs.

Yeah these two series going seven is not surpring to me at all.

I got the Sharks and Stars getting to the 3rd.

EDIT: Oh and Gabe Landeskog was so overdue for a goal it’s crazy. Dude has been a chance machine and hasn’t been able to finish.

see, you aren't making any arguments. you are just making fun of JD's catchphrase and Ranger fans without 1) naming other viable candidates 2) providing a list of weaknesses for the team president job that makes him poorly qualified 3) providing a list of qualifications your alternatives have 4) countering any of the qualifications I state. Why bother even posting?

Didn't Tortorella guarantee game 7?

Blue Jackets keep screwing us first eliminate Tampa then fail to beat the Bruins.

Shame the Bruins got through, but at least the Bluejackets can look forward to an exciting and fruitful offseason...

I don't see anything wrong with that comment. Nor do I see anything wrong with them going for it. The playoffs were wide open this year. They went all-in and it failed. Only one team can succeed each year. It's a grind. I'd rather have my team make a decision, one way or the other, than just stand with a team they don't feel can win it all. The Islanders were much worse in my opinion. They didn't buy and they didn't sell. They just stood pat with a team that was clearly not good enough to win it all. Made no sense to me.

Messier would be an awful choice. I'm fine with JD. My choice would still be to promote Gorton and look for a new GM. Maybe someone who is marinating under the tutelage of a successful GM, or maybe someone in house.

I think experience is overrated, not just in hockey, but in general. You need guys with skills who can do the job, but more years doesn't just make you automatically better at something. That being said, someone with no experience (like Messier) would be markedly worse.

His resumé as a team president is ok-ish. I remember when he had his first post-broadcast success in a managerial position, he was getting praised as a mastermind, until his success evened our over time.

That's why I asked, "had JD had the same success as a team president, yet he were never a catch phrase color guy with the Rangers for a long time, would the blueshift faithful suckers fans think of his possible signing as some match made in heaven?"

You, @n8 , seemed to jump to the defense of JD in regard to my insinuation of homerism, and that personal reaction is my exact concern with why he's automatically perceived as a good fit.

The Mark Messier example was only used to illustrate how "certain" a good part of the fan base was that Mark Messier would be the perfect GM simply because he was the Messiah in 1994 and that he's a tough character.

I'm a huge Mark Messier fan, but that leap in logic was pretty much laughable when it was brought up routinely a few years after#11's retirement.

JD actually has a decent NHL managerial resumé, so it's less blind faith as it would be with hiring Mark Messier as GM, but I still feel it's a bit of a leap of faith that is fueled by JD being a former Ranger goalie and the long term color announcer for the team.
