It's not like they got Mario Lemieux in his prime though. Paccioretti has been great though. I will say that the Habs have better high end offensive talent than us, or at least their high end offensive talent has been playing better than ours.

They'll be out in the first round

Just my opinion, if the Habs have to play the Lightning, like it looks like they will, they're out in 5 games. They match up horribly against them.

Not too shabby. Btw season ends today they play Detroit? This new seedlings confuses me

Season ends today, we play Philly. Everything has to stay within the division, except for the Wild Cards.
NYR-PHI, MTL-TBL. It's always gonna be #2 divisional seed vs #3 divisional seed.
The 2nd Wild Card team (as of now, CBJ) plays the better divisional champion, aka 1st in the Eastern Conference. BOS-CBJ. The better Wild Card team (DET) plays the worse divisional champion. PIT-DET. Should the WC teams advance, they're staying within the divisional bracket. So:
DET, NYR, CBJ, TBL advance. DET and CBJ now don't go back to their respective divisions, but remain where they have been seeded. NYR-DET, TBL-CBJ.
Also: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=711015&navid=nhl:topheads offers an explanation of the new format, while http://www.nhl.com/ice/stanleycup.htm gives you the seeding as of today.

To add to the confusion, IIRC, as soon as next season, the WC teams would remain in their respective division no matter what. That is IF there are WC teams from different division. If there are two WC teams from the same division, the worse one gets to play the 1st in the Eastern Conference.
Example
BOS 119 - most points in EC
TBL 111
MTL 100
TOR 94 - WC 1
OTT 93 - WC 2
--> OTT plays BOS, TOR "switches" divisions to play the 1st seed of the Metro and remains there for the length of the divisional playoffs.

I hope everything is correct.

No. The new playoff seeding is complicated and stupid in my opinion, but it focuses more on divisions than conferences. So 2nd plays 3rd in each division in then the highest first in the conference plays the lowest wildcard and the second highest first plays the highest wildcard and that wildcard then is a part of that division for the playoffs so if the season ended today Boston v. Columbus, Montreal v. Tampa Bay and the winners of those series play each other. Then Pittsburgh v. Detroit, NYR v. Philadelphia and the winners of those series play each other.

Yea it is stupid . What's the point of conference seeds then?
Columbus could get ahead of philly still

Elias left the Devils game last night, anyone know if he's out tonight vs the Canes ? Flyers/Bruins game is this afternoon, hope they beat the **** out of each other.

Looks like it's Flyers or Jackets for us in the 1st round. Hoping for Flyers. Bad goaltending and bad D so sign me up any time.

BTW, didn't realize PK "Better than McDonagh AINEC" Subban was a minus 3 last night in 7-4 game. Subban is a great forward.

He's one of the most painfully overrated players in the game. Sure, I'd love to have him, but he had one half-season near a PPG pace and somehow won the Norris over 30 minutes shutdown Suter.

He's a 55-60 point defenseman who can't play defense. No better than Letang. He's top 15 in the league but not top 5 like Montreal fans seem to think.

Subban is inconsistent as many young players are.

he's a #1 defenseman and elite. id take him on this team, just not at the salary hes going to demand (7+ for sure)

That still rustles my jimmies that he won over Suter, what a farce. Habs fans think it's carte blanche in every defensemen discussion.

When building a defensive core I'd take McDonagh, a 45 point elite defensive defenseman, over a 55 point offensive defenseman.

So I certainly wouldn't give Subban 7+ million. I'd hesitate to give Karlsson that, and he's the best offensive defenseman in the league.

I just came up with a limerick:

There once was a team called the Devils
They used be on a whole different level
And hockey they killed
But now they're not skilled
And in their futility I continue to revel
