Am I overreacting by thinking a top 3 spot in the Met is out of reach? Both Columbus and Philly are playing with way more urgency than us. It's amazing how the team in the most important stretch is playing their most uninspired hockey since December. Incredibly disappointing.

We are really really close to being in a spot where we can't catch them.

This weeks play has made the h2h matchups with them legit MUST WINS

Flyers taking both games this weekend with PIT. CBJ getting 2 in ****ing Minnesota.

Canes game was a joke. The Minnesota game you have to find a way to get to OT at this point in the season.

I miss when the Rangers being tied midway through the game was basically an ensured point.

You said everything that needed to be said. I say we need to win today and win all of next week to make up for this DISASTER DISASTER DISASTER week we have had, both in Ranger land and on the scoreboard.

I just don't know where these games came from? We were very consistent in our possession game and all of a sudden they unraveled against the ****** ass Canes.

Pitt looks like they're not even trying. Philly's luck is ridiculous. We play the Pens and they're 100% healthy and on a huge win streak. Philly runs into them and half their team is injured and they pretty much have their playoff spot locked up so they're barely even trying. Very frustrating to watch this game knowing how much it impacts our chances.

These guys better show up when we play Philly and Columbus. Those games are going to determine if we make the playoffs. I know Philly and Columbus will come out like it's game 7. We need to too.

You just know that if we DIDN'T need the ice birds to win, Crosby would have scored on that ****ing chance.

I think the "we can't catch them" is a bit premature. PHI did just beat the pens twice, but they have a rough schedule. Plus, as shocking as it would be, we could get back to pre-Olympic form.

I love the Hawks. I am so jealous of that team. Jonathan Toews is the definition of a hockey player in my book. My favorite kind of player. Having Kane on the same team is just unfair. You've got the young, two-way stud, clutch, leader, great in the corners and along the walls, highly talented #1 center and the young, supremely skilled, flashy, explosive, dangerous every shift #1 winger, both giving you highlight reel goals on an almost nightly basis. Add 2 veterans like Hossa and Sharp, who can put up, for example, 30+ goals each and are as good defensively as offensively, a young guy like Saad who seems to be following Toews lead, a spark plug like Shaw, and a defense that includes a silky smooth Norris caliber Keith, a bruising #2 who can put up his share of offense in Seabrook, a stalwart stay at home in Hjalmarsson, great prospects in the system like Tuevo Teravainen , a coach like Quennville and a top notch GM like Bowman.

God. Damn. It. All. It's. So. Un. Fair. Ughhhhh.

Val Nichushkin is a monster. He's adjusting to the NA game and while he was doing well early on just with his pure tools like his shot, speed and strength, playing like a bull, he's now getting his playmaking going as he adapts to the speed and his teammates and he just looks electric. He's gonna be a good one. The assist on Seguin's 30th tonight was underrated because Seguin's finish on the backhand got the attention.

Same game, Evander Kane's goal on the backhand was wicked.

Of course there is a major downside

The Hawks #2C is Michael Handzus ,, With Peter Regin standing in shadows

Hawk fans cant wait until TT arrives and hopefully ends the #2C nightmare

I know, but I have to imagine the 2C for you guys could pretty well be satisfied with an adequate 3C from most teams. It's always vexed me a bit that it hasn't been filled. When you traded to get Steeg back, I wondered, why not try Goc or Matthias at the 2C instead. As the deadline approached, I thought "why not go after Vermette or move Pirri + a pick and a B prospect for Backlund". I'm not trying to say it would be "easy", but I've often wondered why it hasn't been better addressed, at least with a playoff rental. Olli Jokinen has had a good year and is a UFA on a non-playoff team (most likely). The Wings picked up Legwand. It just seems like there have been affordable options.
